AliveCor ECG

Hello,

I’m new to the forum and recently seen a cardiologist who recommended I purchase an AliveCor ECG. I wondered if anyone else has experience using these and if the attached strip is worth sending off for review or not? I’ve been searching and haven’t been able to find anything that looks similar to compare with?

Hi MM welcome, have you compared your reading with the arrhythmia library on the Kardia App..

To access the library on the Apps homepage go to 'settings' (little green bars top left corner) then select 'Heart Education' then 'Arrhythmia Library' it gives examples of the different arrhythmias which can be compared with your own print out.

Thanks for your reply doodle68... Yeah, I did have a look at those, though I can’t realy see anything similar on there, it looks like normal sinus rhythm for the most part with a bit of something else.

To me that looks like good normal sinus rhythm with a bit of extra electrical activity within 2 beats.

That could be ectopics but possibly external electrical interference, I can’t tell.

It isn’t much and not worth worrying about in my view.

Rather than send off for analysis, record and store as you are doing and then ask your cardiologist to take a look at them next time you see them and explain.

Many of us have a Kardia and have found them very useful but it can become a bit an obession for some so useful for general learning, useful for your cardiologist to interpret and explain to you but do take care.

It looks like interference...i.e if you shake, hiccups, sneeze...any movement can interfere with your reading

Hi the best thing is to show your cardiologist at next appt or GP if you have an appt due otherwise what I do is save them up and take to next cardiologist appt. try not to get too over anxious x

Hi. I would save or email it to an ep as opposed to a cardiologist or gp. Single lead ecg's like Kardia can be more difficult to read than a 12 lead.

In all due respect to members here, I would not put much faith in their diagnosis with the exception of "Dr. Dave01" assuming that he is the Dr. Dave who invented the Kardia. And if it is that Dr. Dave, just a shout out to say what a great product you have developed!

Personally, I read and interpret my Kadia ECGs all the time but whenever I'm the least bit unsure because of the tracing and/or context I have an EP look at it. If important, and I can't wait for the EP, I will sometimes use Kardia's $20 paid service and have a board certified cardiologist read it which would still be second best to a good EP.

...and don’t worry about becoming ‘obsessed’.

Personally I don’t think there is such a thing, as the more readings you take, especially at the start, the more you’ll get used to little anomalies, know your own heart and what’s going on. I took many many tracings when I got mine and devoured ecg explanation websites, but gaining that knowledge helped me to worry less.

There were times when I thought I could feel something odd going on but the Kardia showed all was normal.

Now I might not use it for a couple/few weeks but I know it’s there.

Try the airplane mode Dr Dave advises for routine tracings and longer events, I’m going to do that from now on. However, if you’re tracing an event that could pass in that time, don’t miss it whilst you’re fiddling about in settings.
