As it is a cleanser - almost immediately I would think........

Not something to take regularly

We do dumb things sometimes. I never have taken anything like this without my dr ok’ing it. I just wanted to lose those extra few lbs left. Im actually feeling better this afternoon but was wondering how long it takes to leave my system.

Oh - Well all good learning. Mag is really hard to absorb so i doubt there will be much left in your system. Glad you are now feeling better. Best wishes

If you were using this for weight loss I would suspect dehydration.

I seriously doubt the magnesium is causing your heart palpitations, unless you had some allergy to it. Magnesium has a calming effect on the heart. I have been taking high dose magnesium daily for years, with the approval and support of my EP. So many things can cause palpitations but magnesium a doubtful culprit. Any supplements should be taken under advisement of your MD or naturopathic doctor, especially for heart issues.

I am certain that your heart palpitations were NOT caused by the Mg.

In fact Mg has the opposite effect on the heart.

Could be severe dehydration or some other meds.

Good luck and good health.

My cardiologist suggested that it was the magnesium. I read up on it and it can cause palpitations in heart patients. I was taking about 3000 mg. Not every night but regularly. I have a pig valve that will need replacing in 2021 but maybe sooner if this continues😞. I discontinued mag and within 24 hrs palps gone. Feel good today so far and no palps. It is a day to day struggle mentally with heart disease. I was the last person you would ever thought this would have happened to. I was active , no symptoms, happy & serving the Lord and boom. My biggest fear in life was heart issues and I feel like a God has tested my faith these past years. I trust him and know he has my back so after my dr appt Monday I will let you know outcome. Have a blessed day

My Dear Friend Kharrell,

I am glad to hear that the palpitations are gone.I am happy for you.Stay away from the Mg supplement for now.You can get a lot of Magnesium from foods such as dates (2/day) and Wheat Grass juice.

We share a similar history.

I am 69 years old with a history of heart disease as well.

I have had 2 heart attacks. The last one was May 2016.I had to have 2 stents inserted.

I had the first one in in 1990 (27 years ago).I had a triple bypass at that time.

I also have type 2 Diabetes and high cholesterol (Heredity).

I firmly believe in the Lord.

Our Lord never give us a burden greater than we can bear.

My history is too long to put in this blog,however if you would like to talk about things my personal e mail is;

Kyoom@rogers.com.

Wishing you the very best

God blessings and have a wonderful day.

I’m a firm believer in things happen for a reason. I was not where I needed to be the Lord when this happened. I was a Christian but just not where I wanted to be with my relationship with Him. I believe that this was His way of showing me who was in charge. I was humbled to say the least. I had no one but Him to depend on . My family ( hubs, 2 daughters & church family ) were here but they can only say “ I know how you feel”. No they don’t! No one did but me and the good lord. The first year I was plagued with pneumonia and fear. Fear all consuming that when you talk to anyone about it they say all the right things but really don’t get it. They mean well. I’m 7 yrs in with this pig valve and hoping it can be replaced by tavr procedure in 3 yrs. they only last 10 yrs. I’m doing good and stay busy with my grands and thank God daily for one more day. We are expecting another grand in July and that will make 5. And the last one. I won’t bore you any longer with my life but I do know that God is there for us.

I fully agree with you.People don't understand the pain and suffering that we are going through with our heart health.

I still get chest pain from time to time.I also have some issues with my meds.

I have 3 children and 9 grand kids .Today I have 6 of them with us for the day.

Your valve replacement will go fine.

Please do not worry.

Enjoy the present and leave the rest to the Almighty Lord.

Keep well.

3000mg is way too much, no wonder it caused a problem!

As others have said you were taking far too much , i have taken magnesium for years without any issues, it calms the heart, helps sore muscles and helps you sleep better, everything in moderation

Magnesium is a mineral...you never ever want to take it at a huge dose. My dr. prescribed 400 mg and even that is high. You can overdose and it does cause irregular heartbeats at high dose! The point of taking it is to actually soothe the heart (and it really does work)....I suggest telling your doctor what you did and staying away from it for a while. BTW- why such a big dose? It also causes some major diarrhea!

I have been losing wgt since May 2017 and have a few more I would like to lose. The lady at physicians weight loss told me to take for those last few lbs. It’s called mag07 from the health food store. I just didn’t think and made a poor decision. And what’s so funny is I didn’t lose the few lbs🙄. No more! Lesson learned and hopefully no damage. We live learn die and forget it all. Thanks
