Hi guys
Is it worth taking a magnesium suppliment with meals? I've just read that a lack of it can increase risk of AFib?

Search Magnesium in the facility top right and you all have all the views you need. Usual advice to discuss with your medical team before taking any over the counter supplements or meds.
I just started taking magnesium about 6 weeks ago and I have less Afib episodes! I am taking 125 mg twice a day, I will up my dosage to 3 times a day to see how my body reacts to it. My doctor told me magnesium will not hurt me, so take it if it helps.
Just check that any supplement is not contraindicated for you, I cannot take any type of Magnesium because of an autoimmune diseases, which would also apply to people with kidney Dysfunction.
Hello all, I think if magnesium tablets was that good for A F Doctors would recermend it, I get my Magnesium from almonds, bananas and fish, take plenty of pills so get magnesium from natural foods
Hello higgy52, there is a Cardiologist on here called Sanjay Gupta who does recommend you take a magnesium supplement. Even though you are taking the foods you mention, the amount of processing and pesticides etc our food has to endure before we eat it depletes the Magnesium. I have been taking Magnesium Citrate for 3 months now and I feel superb. I have more energy, sleep well at night and generally feel better.
I have AF, my Dr suggested I try Magnesium. HAve sourced Magnesium Taurate 125mg and take daily. So far so good, no AF for over 5 weeks which is good.
I also read that magnesium helps with heart function, I was diagnosed with Afib in 2015. I read about the magnesium during my five day holpital stay. My doctor said it couldn't hurt. Had a cardioversion in 2016, which kicked me back into rhythm for about 10 months. Then I wore a heart monitor for three days, which showed I was back in Afib. This time my cardiologist sent me to an Electrophysiologist and he read the same heart monitor readings and said it was A-flutter. I had an A-flutter ablation in June 2017. Exactly one month post ablation, I knew I was having an episode when I was out of breath sitting. My Fitbit gave me a heartrate of 88. Called EP next day, wore a heart monitor for 24 hours and it showed an Afib episode. So I've been taking two 200 mg., twice a day for almost two years. I take high absorbtion, chelated magnesium. I do get bad acid reflux with it, so I'll be switching to the liquid form. The only difference I've noticed is that I have at least three healthy bowel movements everyday. See my EP in two weeks to see what my next step is.
Magnesium is extremely important for the heart and the whole body, my EP has me taking two tablets a day before bed, helps me sleep, helps keep regular and helps the heart. Just remember not to take it with medications, it will bind with them and they will not be as effective as they should be, particularly thyroid medications. I take a citrate, there are several kinds so do your research and find which one works best for you.
I started taking mag citrate (250 mg a day) about 12 months ago and felt the difference within a matter of days. Nothing specific just more alert and sleeping better. Mentioned this to my cardiac nurse this who approved of me taking it.
Thanks for that Frank, will speak with mine.
Has anyone taken ReMag and if so what was the outcome?
