magnesium
I have no views on it, but I do take both. I take magnesium orotate each evening and I take it at the same time as my evening dose of eliquis, carvidolol and candesartan.
I am not aware of any interaction between Apixaban and oral magnesium but if you take BP meds magnesium could increase their efficacy.
I can’t take oral magnesium supplements so us a topical spray.
I take these all the time. What would the concern be. Its been fine.
I have taken magnesium for years together with Apixaban, Metoprolol and Flecainide. No problems with drug interactions. PAF only happens rarely after ablation more than 10 years ago. Female, 84, active and remains fit.
I take both no problems , magnesium helps with sleep other is blood thinner
Can I ask which variation of magnesium you take, and what time of day/evening? Just thinking of the possible sleep benefits.
Magnesium Citrate take before I get into bed , at night
thank you
Hi just a little heads up that the he citrate form is great if you have “slow bowel transit” (I’m being diplomatic). If you do not wish the magnesium to help speed things up then a glycine or chelated form or similar is much gentler on the stomach and still has the benefits for both sleep and heart.
I have been taking a supplement with magnesium turate, glycinate and malate in it. It’s supposed to help your heart.
I take one magnesium taurate tablet at around 6 pm with dinner. Apixaban am and 9pm. No problems. Been doing it for three years or more.
When I was first diagnosed with A-Fib the cardiologist suggested magnesium and prescribed Apixaban and Bisoprolol. I couldn't believe what a blessing magnesium became, and still take it almost every night 4 years later. As we get older we lose several vitamins/minerals our body needs - due to soil nutrition depletion, eating processed foods - and supplements can really help. I realised after a very short time that I had to be deficient in magnesium (Vit D3 also) as I haven't slept so soundly and relaxed, for 8 hours straight, for decades! Magnesium is wonderful: all natural, relaxes the muscles, and most of all the heart. I take one capsule an hour before bedtime and sleep like a baby. When the heartbeats become irregular I might take one just to subdue anxiety these can give. Just check with your doctor about any possible interaction with other meds you may have, but when taken with these two I can only say I've had no problems at all.
thanks everyone sorry for long response , pharmacist just said that magnesium supplements can interfere with apixaban even though no interactions found !!! Would not give a definite yes or no to taking it ! Will check with my Arrythmia specialist nurse .
