Travel insurance

I know this has been asked before, but I can't find the old post.

My husband and I want to take our motorhome over to France. But I don't know where to go for travel insurance.

My husband has COPD and is on oxygen at night, and I have AF.

Any help, from any of you lovely people, would be very much appreciated.

There are many companies who can cope with this. I used World First. There are others google travel insurance medical conditions. I have AF and the declaration on a normal insurance site hiked the price up hugely.

Id recommend calling them rather than using a web form, and get a quote from someone else, though you may find that their quote is better than confused meerkats anyway. Have a good holiday

We use All Clear which is a broker. We have claimed from flexi cover twice one heart related issue. They have gone up a bit in price. If you check the small print none seem to cover private treatment in Europe. Also look at the underwriter as prices can vary a lot for the same cover with the same underwriter. Enjoy Wendy b

We use SAGA because we have personal experience of them dealing with claims well. But they're not cheap! We pay £300 for annual cover for me and my wife, only AF to declare of any note. That's for Europe.

If you don't mind me asking how old are you - my hubby is over 70 so price goes up again?

Hi AnotherLiz, I am 65 & my husband is 68.

Looking around,I have had quotes upto £534 for two weeks.

I think it's his COPD that is the biggest problem, as he is on oxygen at night.

We've also used All Clear and have just taken out a Good to Go Platinum policy (£0 excess on claims) for our forthcoming 10 day Med cruise. £67 for 2, both age 57, me with AF (declared warfarin too), and oh with high blod pressure. We've not had to claim with them, so can't comment on tha, but had no problems with service.

Hi

We get our travel insurance through our bank so I don't know which company. But since having AF we have had to pay an extra £85 pa on the premium and there was a list of questions to answer first, eg ablation, which meds, whether hospitalised etc. in addition Which magazine are quite helpful or you could give Saga a ring.

Hope that helps.

Hi I have AF, on beta blocker, warfarin and a water tablet daily. Off to Florida next month and insurance, Jees my head was hurting after many calls. Some companies would insure me, some quotes were extortionate. Best price I got for me (with above condition ) husband and two children was £291 with Avanti. Phoned through as easier to explain.

I've used oktotravel a couple of times now and they've been very reasonable. I got them after putting my details into a comparison site (travel supermarket) and chose them because of their greater cover and lower excess should a claim be made. Fortunately I haven't had to claim!

Good luck with your search, it really is a nightmare finding a good deal! x

I think it maybe the motor- home and the oxygen which presents the biggest risk, try ringing the RAC or AA and asking advice.

I always use Travel4Medical and been very happy.

Have you had to make a claim CDreamer?

No, but I cancelled a holiday and I didn't want to make a claim as we got an automatic credit on the flights. I got a refund from them for the cost of the insurance but due to the cooling off period. ReseRch the best deal but only buy insurance a few days before you go - that was their advice. Then if you cancel and don't have any expenses, you can get the refund or a credit. I had a letter from my doctor that I couldn't travel for the flights.

Because we travel independently to a second home there we don't have hotel costs, etc etc so don't take the cancellation option.
