Travel insurance for AF

Hi, I wondered does anyone have any advice for a good travel insurance company for people with heart problems? Only my sister in law was quoted £1000. That's seems way too high to me! Any help would be much appreciated. 👍X

I used Staysure for all my foreign travel in recent years.I have AF and declared any other questions as asked. It also rather depends on what your sister in laws medical profile is.Mine was usually under a £100....and I went to India and China using Staysure.

I use my bank and pay monthly with other things. I’ve got a lot of conditions and are covered. I have a pacemaker as well

Thank you.

There is quite a lot of information about travel insurance on the AF Association website and if you type travel insurance in the search box top right of this page, it will provide you with many previous posts on the subject. The problem is that any insurance company is only as good as it’s willingness to settle a legitimate claim. Unfortunately, that can sometimes be a whole different story…….

By coincidence, I was discussing this with some friends yesterday and they said the same thing- that some of the cheaper insurers are less likely to pay out and are therefore a false economy. I want to go to Havana later in the year, but have no idea what insurance for PAF and, possibly, angina might cost.

Hi. In NZ I opted NOT to cover AF as I have had a stroke because of AF and Thyroid Cancer.

If I take my meds (kept in hand luggage) nothing to worry about.

Insurance is expensive as I also need my Thyroid thyroxin. I need it to live.

Its the risk of me not taking my thyroxin rather than AF.

Do cover or not cover its your decision but you must declare.

I have multiple long term illnesses including AFib .I have used Staysure for years for Annual European insurance but never had to claim.I did have a beef with them down to a the agents mistake in their acceptance of one of my declarations re awaiting treatment.I am currently not covered for pre existing illness whilst awaiting CV & now ablation. They are they only company that will cover me annually due to age/pre existing illness besides All clear who are twice the price and when I went through medical screening by phone All clear said I could leave out so many illnesses that other companies say you must declare.

I recently insured with Staysure, nearly £500 cost to cover a host of problems, including AF heart failure type 2 diabetes, arthritis and osteoporosis, I had a last minute scare when I had a gynaecology problem, however my doctor advised that even if the diagnoses was cancer, nothing would occur in the next two weeks. Rang Staysure who said I need not include the female problem but would not be covered for it, went on holiday no problem and in hospital a week later and given the all clear. However you must tell them all your health problems even if they are not applicable now.

My holiday was in Europe which can make a difference to the amount you pay. Good luck Hatten

Staysure seemed to be the best for me and a yearly cover came in at £170 for a couple taking into account my AF and use of Statins. I researched a lot and they seemed all round the best for price and cover .

They also specialise in slightly older people ( 70+) with medical conditions like AF etc.

Ive just had a look for travel insurance for a week in Greece at the end of May. Been quoted about £120 by the Post Office and Saga. Ive had a stroke 2 1/2 years ago, Afib and Dilated Cardiomyopathy. I didn't mention thyroid as I no longer have one and have been on Thyroxine for over 30 years. Didn't occur to me to mention it.
