Hello, does anyone know if there is a support group who meet for a chat anywhere in Yorkshire?
Yorkshire Support Group: Hello, does... - Atrial Fibrillati...
Yorkshire Support Group
If there isn't one already, why not start your own. All you need is a nice pub, good food a date and an announcement on here. . After that you can decide what you want from it. Ours wanted to stay as a social group whilst others may want something more formal with a medical lead and regular talks. It costs nothing to arrange a nice pub meet.
Hi we have one in South Yorkshire at the Northern General hospital in Sheffield. The group meets every 2 months and is run by one of the Arrhythmia nurse specialists. At each meeting there is an opportunity to network and gain support from attendees. There is also a guest speaker. Last week there was a GP with special interest in arrhythmias in attendance who spoke about the GP role in aiding with managing these conditions.
There will be a specialist cardiologist speaking about arrhythmia research, a pharmacist, dietitian and a member of the ambulance service coming to speak over the next number of meetings.
Next meeting is June 9th Tuesday, followed by Thurs 15 Oct and Tues 8th Dec. You can just turn up no prior booking, no charge, free tea and coffee. You would be very welcome.
It might be useful to attend to see how to set up a group closer to you if that would be useful to you. Meetings are held in the Education Unit at the Northern General Hospital, Herries Road, Sheffield.
Hope this helps.
Dee
Thank you, I think I would like to attend
There is a support group in Shipley , Bradford. Usually run by a specialist cardio nurse.
SuzieA I live in Hornsea and would like to see if there is a need for a support group in the Holderness area. I am retired but most of my friends still work & none of them live local. Will put a poster up at EastgateMedical Centre & see if there is any response.
Wendy
I live in Hornsea too
Wendy:-Tel No:- 01964535617,small world! Thought there would be some one else locally with AF. I do have dogs so you may have seen me around, I drive a white VW Caddy van. Give me a call and perhaps we can share experiences. It is new to me and at times a bit frightening. Wendy
What time is the meeting?
Hi SuzieA, Westcliffe medical practice in Shipley run a support group for AF and other arythmia sufferers. The next one is Thursday 30 April at 14.00hrs. I know that one is run in Keighley as well but I do not have their details. The lady who runs it goes to the Shipley meeting and she sounds very keen to help others. I hope that helps
