Hello Thanks to all who commented re AF/Dementia (Casualty BBC)

Did anyone go to the Support Group at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital last Thursday. I would like to have gone - its about 12 miles from me - but was having a minor op that day and didnt make it Be interested how these things go.

I didn't know that there was a support group at LHCH. Nobody told me. I had an ablation there last August and have had 2 follow-up visits since then.

Hi, yes I went, it was a good session, Dr Gupta spoke and we also had input from an anti-coag expert, I found it very useful

Did they say if there was another coming up?

in reply to karl1524

I am so very disappointed not to have been made aware of this meeting as Dr Gupta was the primary EP who performed my Ablation last August...Next time hopefully..

Carol.

Hi Carol sorry you missed it, I have just checked the info pack that I took from the meeting and it states that the next one is Saturday 13th June at 2pm and the subject matter is cardioversion - cheers - Karl

No not able to go unfortunately. It is a long way from Rhyl and not too sure of the way to the hospital. We are very poorly served here in North Wales regarding support groups. When I asked about one I was asked why we needed one and I was told I must be too worried about my AF!! I feel support groups are there to share experiences etc and dearly wish we had one here. p.s.Love this site it helps so much

Yes, they plan to repeat every couple of months with a different expert speaker at each session, if you call LHCH, they will give you the next dare

One of the problems with LHCH (Broadgreen, Liverpool) is that it is an absolute pig to find and access, particularly from North Wales.

I now know how to do it by train ( £7.80 return from Flint ) I will happily give details to anyone who is interested.

I am, however, thoroughly miffed not to have been alerted about this meeting.

What's the nearest station?

Google is telling me to walk half a mile from Broad Green station.

Hi Relim, it's Broadgreen on Merseyrail. From Lake District go to Warrington Bank Quay then swap platforms onto Merseyrail. This is far easier than the escalators at Liverpool, Lime Sreet.

It's a 10 min walk from Broadgreen Station. The hospital guide states that it's a 20 min walk but even I can do it in 10. There are no taxis there. The station has an underpass. Walk up to traffic lights, left turn then hospital on the right. But then you have to find the meeting's location. If it's near to outpatients' dept then you can walk across the lawns on the diagonal path where there are park benches for the weary.

Thanks for that. I can get to Warrington very quickly on a pendolino. Musn't nod off though, as the next stop is Euston.

I knew nothing of it either.

You would think that patients/ former patients would be advised as a matter of course. I probably wouldn't have attended though!

Hello,

Where are the comments about Casualty please
