Starting Nubeqa and taking Atorvastatin 80 mg. Should he decrease the dose of atorvastatin?

I have been reading here that some have had increased liver enzymes on Nubeqa and statin drugs. My husband is stopping Abiraterone and prednisone and starting Nubeqa because of increased liver enzymes. He has had a bad reaction after stopping the prednisone 5 mg a day, decreasing to 2.5 mg a day and then stopping prednisone altogether, so restarted 2.5 mg a day.

Now I’ve read here that some have elevated liver enzymes on statins and Nubeqa! So I’m wondering if he has to be careful about taking Nubeqa and Atorvastatin 80 mg.

yes. I use only 10mg crestor now. Or change drug. Read the Nubeqa brochure. It increases crestors effect.

Thanks, he’s starting it Wednesday. I’ll ask the doctor about this

Definitely discuss with his doctor before he starts. The Nubeqa prescribing information has specific interaction information about the statins listed in the picture.

research curcumin, magnesium and berberine to mitigate the side effects of adt. Curcumin cleanses the liver and increases kidney function as well as controls bp and glucose. Berberine lowers lipids and glucose. Magnesium for bp and heart health. Many suffer from edema, the berberine will take care of that. I just added berberine about two months ago and my nonfasting glucose dropped from 120 to 140 range to 99. As always, discuss with doctor first. I got to stop hctz because berberine is a natural diuretic. Berberine also is good for gut health. Please note I never suggested you take these, only research and then make your own decision after discussing with your doctor. God bless.

I just started nubeqa and was told to reduce my crestor to 5mg, as both meds share the same pathway. Pharm said they found this impact magnified crestor 5x

Check w pharm to see if your Lipitor also shares the same pathway

to Sunshades,

You raised a good question about "statins" that I will have to ask my M.O. and my Cardiologist asap. I've been taking statins before using Nubeqa and am currently still taking Nubeqa. "The story is "what's the story guys?" and do I have to pay them or pay you for the consultation?

Thanks for the info and now please update your patient's bio (and stay out of the sun).

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

hi, just finished research with my GU Med. Onc. and Cardiologist. With Nubeqa you should Not be on a Statin. The only acceptable Stain is Pravastatin and only 10 mg at that. When you combine Nubeqa and 10 mg of Pravastatin you get a total of 20mg. This is the maximum for a Statin. Hope this helps.

Ask a real Specialist as it will affect Nubeqas effectiveness. You want it to work forever.

I know taking Crestor is more potent with Nubeqa and the dose needs to be adjusted Not sure about other statins

Go to Drugs.com and check all your drug interactions. Nubeqa increases the potency of statins.
