I got a call today from my MO's office rescheduling my appt for my Lupron injection. This is now the third time to reschedule. They state that Lupron is on backorder and have now scheduled me for the day after Christmas. Needless to say, it's very frustrating. The ASHP website says backorder is real and anticipated release date is sometime in mid December. Since it is mid December I am losing faith that it will be available anytime soon.
Anyone dealt with a lag in dosing before? I'm only 9 months into this and things are going well. Any suggestions?

If your insurance will pay for it, the other commonly used alternative ADT is Firmagon.
Since you are 9 months into ADT, the general sense I get is that you can go a couple of weeks past your "due date" without there being any significant loss of ADT coverage.
Other alternatives with the same mechanism of action as Lupron are Eligard, Zoladex, and Trelstar. Firmagon has a somewhat different mechanism, but has the same ultimate effect.
I had two Lupron injections at age 57. After the last one my doctor monitored my testosterone each month. If I remember correctly, it stayed low for a month and only then began to rise. If you're experience is like mine, you should be alright with no return of testosterone until 4 months after the last 3 month injection.
I just had my 2nd Lupron depot injection last Tuesday. The only delay experienced was my MO infusion RN triage had to wait for 15 min for the hospital pharmacy to let her get such Med out of the locked up area. Maybe the pharmacist dept was busy or backlogged . Those kind of delays shouldn’t happen in USA... but things will work out . Ask to try for Trelstar or Vantas as alternatives. Good luck Kentucky1. You could always switch to IU Simon Cancer Center, Indy...
Had my 3 mo Lupron shot at Mayo yesterday after seeing my MO and no one said anything about a shortage- they scheduled my next one 3 mos out.
I had this issue getting my 1st 6 month eligard injection. Optum for some unknown reason was dragging their feet and it wasn't a supply issue. The urology office had called them and was getting nowhere. I got on the phone and squawked to the insurance provider. They were sympathetic and perplexed at the delay as well and worked to get it resolved. I was on the phone for 45 minutes. It's crazy. Eligard/lupron are standard beginning treatment options and there should be no delay for a gleason 8 diagnosis. I refuse to designate Optum as my prescription drug option -- I go with Walgreens.
Have them give you another drug like eligard, degalarix etc. They work the same way. Too many choices out there to risk waiting for a resupply of one that can easily be replaced with another
I did a google search on "Lupron supply" and didn't get a hit regarding "shortage" or "backorder".... I have a feeling that your M.O. is dealing from the bottom of the deck...
Who is he/she and location?.... All info voluntary... Thanks...
