I've had five cancers: Breast (mastectomy), Thyroid (thyroidectomy).Bladder Cancer removed (Low Grade), Nueroendrocrine cancer removes (stomach, stage 2) and Prostate cancer (prostatectomy, stage 4).
Yes. And unlucky. I get a Mamo every year. Usually, I’m the only male patient in the outer office. I believe the number of US males who have breast cancer diagnosis was around 2800 then, 2015.
I’m BRACA2+ and have been told it puts me at higher risk for breast cancer (which I haven’t had, yet) and for prostate cancer (which I have). I also previously had Hodgkin’s lymphoma but I don’t think that’s correlated with BRACA2+
Always been a fighter, in a quiet way. I get down but try not to show it. I had breakfast with a good froend last week, and suddenly, froze up, worried I was starting to lose it. I teared up and it wd not pass. Then the friend realized i was worried how I was a burden to my family, emotionally. That never happens to me. Kind of shocked me. But the way my mind works, I felt lucky I havda friend who knew me well and knew I was uncomfortable...
My dad had both breast and prostate cancer and nearly all of his family had prostate cancer. I had genetic testing (my request) and found I had BRCA2. Was pretty much mutilated by a prostate surgeon, which required traveling to a large city to fix and the fix is something not many men would even consider. I've had radiation 3 times, and just like whack-a-mole, it keeps coming back. Now also fighting Parkinson's. Many here can empathize with you. It is extremely hard sometimes and I have teared up more than once.
That is one hell of a list. Very sorry for you as even dealing with a single cancer is far from trivial so I can't really imagine dealing with five of them. Wishing you all the best.
