Psa 101.68 Doc stopping my treatment of Cabazitaxel and starting Pluvicto. Does anyone have feedback? PSMA scan shows more activity in the bones and lymph nodes. My former Doctor, who passed away, fought this rising PSA with Doxetaxel and had my PSA below one, but my new Doc is hesitant to use Doxetaxel for some reason.

Hi

How many rounds of docetaxel have you already had? If it was controlling your PSA, I would have asked earlier why change if something is working?

The Docetaxel treatments were 5-6 years ago, and I was off when my PSA fell below 1. My Doctor then had me on Zytiga to maintain my levels, and it did for a while. When it started to rise, my new doctor had a wait-and-see attitude no longer with the wait-and-see guy. Note the doctor who controlled my PSA passed away 3-4 years ago. He was a researcher in Prostate cancer; Dr Vogelzang was his name. Good doctors are scarce here in Nevada . To answer you question Dr. V. stopped the Docetaxiel at 6 treatments

Thanks for the reply. Unless your side effects were bad, 6 rounds of docetaxel is not much. I have found being a good doctor is one thing, listening to your patients is even more important. I would just ask. If docetaxel worked and you only had six rounds, it may make sense to go back on the med. I am definitely no cancer expert.

husband has been going through treatments since his surgery and radiation in 2017. Taxotere twice, zytega, Xtandi. Did 4 rounds of pluvicto, PSA was 27 and all lab work great. He did 4 rounds, felt great! Then alkaline phosphate number and PSA were both over 240. Scan showed major progression of bone mets , skull to femurs. He started Jevtana and PSA got to 32. But unfortunately had to go off as he is battling radiation cystitis and just started hyperbaric oxygen treatments. Won’t be back to chemo until February. Alkaline phosphate numbers are now up out of the normal range. He is on zytega as a stopgap measure while doing HBOT.

We had such high hopes for pluvicto🙁
