Carboplatin

Just had my second round of Carboplatin. Tolerable so far then I get vomiting. Not much to come up as not felt like eating. I’ve been very breathless and simple day to day tasks beyond me. Wondering if any similar experiences with Carboplatin. Trying not to read anything worrying in to it.

well hopefully they prescribed you meds for the nausea? When I feel nauseated I take a ondansetron. That really helps. Gone in minutes usually.

Yes, thank you. Have fallen back to Ondansatron just now so hopefully have the desired effect. I shouldn’t wait I guess.

I would try Cabazitaxel instead of Carboplatin. Cabazitaxel is SOC after Docetaxel.

I’ve had 3 infusions of Carboplatin and Dexilant. First was ok…second I was fatigued for several days…the third caused a reaction after 10 minutes of infusion…hot flash…chest pain…labored breathing. Not fun. Waiting to hear next step.

Sorry to hear that. I had a similar reaction to Docetaxel.

In addition to ondansetron, they gave me lots of dexamethasone, which also helps you feel better in those first few days and which also cuts down on nausea. I did six treatments of docetaxel+carboplatin.

Thank you, yep find the dex for the first 2 days works a treat a gives loads of energy then…. I had a severe reaction to Docetaxel hence Carboplatin alone.
