Some Blood drops when urinating.

I have been getting a small amount of blood in my urine.

I had started getting some since I got my biopsy done on 29th May. That continued for almost a month and then stopped for around ten days but has again started after that.

It is in the first drops of urine in which the blood is seen and then it is clear in the ensuing stream

Any ideas ?

It is just some scar tissue from the biopsy sloughing off. Unless there is a lot of blood, there is no cause for concern. Sometimes there is a UTI, especially if it was a transrectal biopsy. If it goes away, there is no cause for concern.

UTI can happen due to the biopsy even after 1.5 month after getting it done ?

Hello Tall Allen ,

I got a KUB ultrasound done which revealed nothing unusual.

Also got a urine routine and culture test done

The routine urine says 0-1 pus/wbc cells and 20-30 RBC

The culture says - “ ocassional pus cells seen - No organism and no growth seen. Culture - negative “

Do you know if this means there is no UTI ?

Thanks for your help.

Hello Tall Allen ,

For how long can this sloughing from scar tissue continue. It’s about 2 months from the biopsy. It’s like a drop or two of blood I see ocassionally ( not every time ) at the start , but it has reduced since the last few days. A KUB ultrasound did not reveal anything remarkable.

Anytime you see "your" blood, it's frightening (ex-wife's makes you smile). Anyway, keep a record of the dates you see blood and if it's a steady stream see the doc asap who performed your biopsy. Not being a doctor, I would also agree with T_A's assessment. What we have to go through as we age. Whew.....
