Burning sensation when urinating!

Could my dad be getting a bladder infection? Symptoms: burns when he urinates

He drinks 80+ oz of water a day. Could it be coming from the Xtandi?? I'm concerned.

Those who can answer, please do. Thank you in advance!

Kimberly

Hi Kim,

Here is a list of Xtandi side effects from Mayo:

mayoclinic.org/drugs-supple...

With the burning with urination, you should talk to his MD's and get a urinalysis to help r/o UTI... Does his urine smell bad or look cloudy? That too could indicate a UTI... If he does have a UTI, patients may benefit from acidification of their urine, besides an antibiotic... cranberry capsules, and of course--cranberry juice help with that issue....there is a product called UTIStat which also helps out to decrease UTI's... Get the UA to be safe...

If it is bladder pain/burning, possible spasms, there is a medication called Pyridium which is a bladder analgesic ...also called Azo--I believe it may be OTC...no Rx needed....some info...

webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-5661...

Hope this helps... How is Dad doing besides the burning with urination? ...Everything else OK??

All the best,

Fish

Thank you Fish!! Your comment is very helpful. I don’t know about the smell or color..I will have to ask him. Other than that he is doing well. Fatigue is better since he switched to taking Xtandi in the evening. He still has fatigue but it is better. Right hip pain is very tolerable and he really doesn’t need any pain meds for it. I just wish he would cut back to part time. But, He really enjoys his work.

Thank you again. Maybe his family doc can test for a uti.

Thanks again! Kimberly

If he enjoys his work.... then it's not work... Is he running a high temperature?

He is not running a fever. The slight burning comes and goes and he is urinating often.
