Can anyone give me your thoughts and/ or opinions please?
My husband with PC four years, has had blood in is urine for 6 months. His OC doesn't seem concerned. So he went to his Md who ordered a sonogram of his bladder. It came back clear. 'so now his urologist has ordered a CAT scan. It seems like he is getting the run around with no apparent help. I would appreciate your thoughts and advice.
Thank You,

Exactly correct. And find a urologist who is confident enough to do it without general anesthetic. With the right MD it's completely painless and actually interesting to see on the screens what he's seeing (BTDT, if you want a name in NYC ping me..) You want an MD who does this 600-1,000 times a year.. takes 10 minutes. Walk in, put on the gown, lay down, have it done, dress and walk out - 10 minutes.
Please see a Urologist at a good center. He should have a CT scan certainly, but also as others have stated he should have a cystoscopy too. Please have his ferritin level checked too. That is a long time having urine in one's blood and his iron may be low. If he had radiation it may be radiation cystitis, but it should be thoroughly investigated. Unless you are a female of child bearing age, one should not be regularly bleeding from anywhere. All the best!
Tallallen asks done great questions. What we know is that your husband was diagnosed in 2018 with PCa and for the previous 6 months he has blood in his urine. I do not know what an OC is. His primary care physician is starting a base one. His urologist is also starting at base one. Does either know his medical history?
In my opinion, lack of information is complicating getting his condition solved. I would think that his primary cancer treatment physician is the one to help solve. And this person could very well start at base three instead on base one. One or two simple question for your husband to answer are: blood bright or dark? Presence of clots? Given history, scoping may give the immediate answer. Scans may define what is taking place.
All physicians regardless of speciality will use a scientific method including descriptive comments from patient, blood work, physical examination, and various scans to gather facts to make a diagnosis and resulting recommendation.
