I stopped Docetaxel at 8th round because my lower legs came down with serious edema. I plan to be treated with cabazitaxel which has less side effects. I know all individuals have different situations, Appreciate Cabazitaxel users to respond as to edema, hair loss, etc. Thanks.

Appreciate cabazitaxel users to respond
Hi tarzantass,
I had the same problem when I was on Docetaxel. My legs developed lymphedema after the 9th cycle, with severe swelling in my left leg. I completed 10 cycles, then went to physical therapy to reduce the swelling. The swelling has subsided after stopping the Docetaxel. I am now taking Pluvicto, so can’t comment on the side effects from Cabazitaxel.
I had similar results with Docetaxel and then received Cabazitaxel for 8 treatments. Leg swelling reduced but PSA climbed from 4 to 63 in six months.
Next step for me was Pluvicto which I completed Feb 24. PSA now .02 , no swelling, bone pain reduced; so far so good. Of course no cure yet.
Best to you

Cabazitaxel, sold under the brand name Jevtana, is a chemotherapy medication used primarily to treat prostate cancer that has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer). Like many chemotherapy drugs, cabazitaxel can cause a range of side effects, which can vary in severity from person to person. Here are some common and significant side effects associated with cabazitaxel:
Bone marrow suppression: This is the most common side effect. Cabazitaxel can cause a decrease in the production of blood cells by the bone marrow, leading to:
Neutropenia: A decrease in white blood cells (neutrophils), which can increase the risk of infections.
Anemia: A decrease in red blood cells, which can cause fatigue and weakness.
Thrombocytopenia: A decrease in platelets, which can lead to easy bruising and bleeding.
Gastrointestinal effects: Cabazitaxel can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. These symptoms can vary in severity and may require medications to manage.
Fatigue: Feeling tired or weak is common during chemotherapy treatment.
Peripheral neuropathy: This can cause tingling, numbness, or pain in the hands and feet.
Hair loss: Temporary hair loss is common with many chemotherapy drugs.
Injection site reactions: Pain, swelling, or redness at the injection site can occur.
Fluid retention: Swelling in the legs or hands due to fluid buildup (edema). <---<<<
Hypersensitivity reactions: Some people may experience allergic reactions, which can range from mild to severe.
Liver enzyme abnormalities: Cabazitaxel can affect liver function, leading to changes in liver enzymes seen in blood tests.
Other effects: Rarely, cabazitaxel may cause severe allergic reactions, changes in electrolyte levels, or heart rhythm disturbances.
It's important for patients receiving cabazitaxel to be monitored closely by their healthcare team for these side effects. Many side effects can be managed with supportive care such as medications, adjustments in treatment schedules, or lifestyle changes.
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

I did 9 rounds of Jevtana 4 years ago..,No hair loss no nausea.,,,,I hr in the chair every 3 weeks..,Was going for 10 but numbers got too low so we stopped….Virtually no probs.
It seems very promising with less side effects, especially hair loss and edema, but different individuals have different situations. Thanks for that encouragement.
