Slowly rising PSA

Hello, now 1 year of Eligard and 8 months on Erleada. The 3 months shot of Eligard is what I hate most. It burns like hell when injected. So far the usual side effects like hotflashes, humor changes which might make my wife kill me one day (better than to die from PC), fatique which I ignore. Did 25 years of powerlifting and I'm still very strong.

My diet is no diet, many fruits, nuts, fish and turkey. Something sweet from time to time which I make like cheesecake and apple pie. A glas of wine with meals and a beer with Pizza I won't miss.

My PSA went down to 0.08. Now within 3 months it climbed to 0.23. My doctor isn't concerned about it. I asked for a PET to see if something has woken up again, but she denied it (I'm living in Italy). Also she said no to radiation. I'm 74 and still very active. Should I be concerned?

My Gleason score is 4+5 with some small metastasi to bones and lymph nodes. So far I'm painfree (except when argue with my wife).

What do you think and suggest?

Tell your wife: "You were right and I was wrong."

Nothing worth doing about the cancer until PSA reaches 2.0

”Nothing worth doing about the cancer until PSA reaches 2.0”. Is this true even for people who had surgery?

Only after all curative salvage options are exhausted.

I hated the eligard as well so switched to orgovyx, much better 1 pill a day.

perhaps ask if your dr can switch you to the 6 month version of the injection.

I just recently had my fourth shot of Eligard and while the first three burned painfully the last one did not. The difference seemed to me that the most recent nurse to administer the shot found a very flabby portion of my arm, under the bicep and squeezed that, sort of making a mass of skin, and put the shot in there. (Maybe I am imagining the different technique but definitely not imagining the burning sensation that was not there.) Perhaps your powerlifting history has left you with less flabby skin than some. It could be that getting your shot in a different area of your body would help.

I use ice immediately before the injection and Lidocaine applied to the injection area about 2 hours prior to the injection. It really minimized the pain and the burning. I wish you the best.

It's been four years since my last Eligard shot (I mostly get Lupron) but getting them in belly fat, if you have any, may help minimize the problem. I didn't have much on arms so it stung and blistered like hell there.
