PSA increasing

My Dad’s PSA started increasing 2.5 years after diagnosis. It was 0.008 in December, 0.024 at the beginning of March and 0.029 on yesterday. Please advise. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. He is still taking Lupron, Abiraterone and Prednisone 10 mg that were started back in September of 2021. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much Allen, what do you recommend as next step/treatment if continues to increase?

I was on Lupron for 3 months until I fell on the floor. So I quit. Now on Firmagon and Xgeva with no side effects.

Fell on the floor? Reaction? Price? Liquor?

Your PSA doubling time is relatively short (December to March, 3 months), which is concerning. But, the absolute values are quite low, as Tall_Allen points out. Probably you should retest PSA in 2-3 months.

Other factors can also influence PSA levels: inflammation, infection, enlarged prostate, etc.

Thank you for your reply, are there any additional tests/scans that I should ask for? If continue to increase what would be the next step/treatment? Thank you so much.

Ahhh...those are questions for your MO.

Have you done a PSMA-PET scan? Or, Decipher gene test?

PSMA is scheduled for March 25th, no Decipher test, only the genetic test (see image),

Excellent plan. Let us know what they find.

I wouldn't start worrying until your PSA gets above 2.

I could also recommend a yearly MRI.

From what I know your Dad is still negligible just like Tall Allen said, but I understand the worry you’re feeling. I get the same way about my son. 🙏🏻and 🤗
