AUS revision surgery?

I'm seeking advice on having a second AUS surgery. My background: I had a prostatectomy in 2016 and radiation a year later because the cancerous tumor had penetrated the sack. I have since had undetected PSA but have suffered with severe stress incontinence. I had AUS surgery in 2018 but it failed because of erosion. The ensuing three months were the most painful of the journey because I had an indwelling catheter that not only leaked but caused great pain. I am told I'm a candidate for a second AUS surgery, and I'm looking for suggestions and personal experiences. I know the radiation and previous AUS surgery could be odds against success. Please let me know your thoughts, and also any suggestions how members deal with incontinence.

Thanks much,

I am having incontinence issues due to the prostatectomie in 2019, I use pads and am able to live with that. I decided against AUS because of all the potential side effects like you are having . Sorry you had to deal with that, be well.

Thanks for your kind reply. My incontinence is severe enough that pads simply do not work - I would need to change hourly. I find the most relief with external catheters, which allow me to leave home and live a somewhat normal life for which I am grateful. I'd love to hear how others handle severe incontinence. Thanks again for your thoughts, suggestions.

my AUS turned out to be a disaster. Had to be removed after nine months due to severe sepsis. Since then I’ve had a foley but I get leakage anyway. I go through probably 8-10 pads and 3-4 diapers a day.

Very sorry to hear what you've gone through. Mine was removed after only a month because of severe erosion, although avoided serious infection. I had a foley for three months while urethra healed (usually it takes one month). It was a miserable time. Pain and leakage just as you are experiencing. Will your foley be removed at some point? Hoping it's not permanent.

I don’t see how it will ever be removed. It would just increase the number of diapers and pads I’d need. The only thing I might do is remove it and see if it cuts down on the chronic UTIs I experience. They’ve put me in the hospital four times.

I am also sorry to hear what you have been and are going through. While not as bad as yours, a lot of men seem to have problems with these. Hang in there.
