Drips, Drops & Diapers post TURP with metastasised PCa and Radiation to begin in a month

Since my TURP about 7 weeks ago, I have had daily incontinence, no urgency issues, just "happens". I have of course resorted to pads, but going through several a day. I expect it will get worse with Radiation. It is a mix of stress incontinence, sneeze, caught, laugh, but other times just leaks with no sensation of needing to void. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks

Wait at least 3 months between TURP and radiation, and at least till you are no longer incontinent. ADT will stop any spreading of the cancer while you are waiting until it's safer.

Yep. Just another bump in the road as my wife says. I have had issues for the last 3 or 4 weeks. Had radiation probably 3 years ago my Urologist figures I have some scar tissue impeding the bladder neck. I have surgery on Tuesday to replace my stints between my kidneys and bladder at that time I will get a diagnosis on my peeing issues. Yes- no urge to go but when you stand up I feel a warm sensation in my loins. Go through 3 or 4 pads in a day and at night when everything is relaxed things flow ...so incontinence briefs and a pad under me. Self catheter to releave pressure before bed and in the morning. Better than being blocked. Good luck and I hope things improve with time.

Be faithful to your Kegals and hopefully it will resolve.

I had "green-laser" treatment (think of a type of turp done with a tissue-reducing laser beam on a probe) on May 15th. Today is 12 weeks later - and the past 4 days I've been "dry" all day. Right after it was done my urologist said "might take a few weeks to resolve leaking.." After a few weeks "might take up to 8 weeks.." after 8 weeks "never takes longer than 12 weeks..."

As with yours leakage was primarily stress (and movement) induced (I could sit for hours without an issue - get up to go somewhere else - and it was an issue.) The urologist found besides restriction caused by the prostate that there was scar tissue likely caused by the radiation treatments.

I've been dry nights from almost right after the catheter was removed, and some nights I can go all night without getting up. Other nights - like last night when I had a late supper with a few glasses of ginger-ale - I was up 3 times. Still dry.. but interrupted sleep.

The good news is I can pee like a horse now (I tend to sit to do it in a toilet to avoid splash-back, ok to stand at a urinal) - where before it took 10 minutes to empty my bladder. Now it's about 30 seconds.

I do some Kegels whenever I happen to think about them - like now - advising someone else to do them. That usually works out to 20 or 30 a day. More than that can be counterproductive - the sphincter muscles can become tired (noticeable in increased leakage as the day goes on.)

TA suggests waiting until you're dry before doing the radiation. Excellent advice.

When did the bleeding stop and when was catheter removed? Did you consider button plasma TURP?

Bleeding took about 6 weeks to stop. Did not consider button plasma TURP.
