Has anyone tried THC/CBD gummies or psilocybin for mitigating some of the side effects of ADT and Orgovyx? Were they beneficial?

we’ve discussed some possibilities recently, search ( at top of page ) for “ delta gummies “ for some of the posts. Plus the “ related posts “ on the right side ( of this page ) has more references.

I smoke pot, vape oil, eat gummies and blips daily. . I microdose mushrooms… all improve my mental health, however, I think the pit effects are intensified for about a half hour after smoking.

What specific ADT side effects are the folks posting on this thread referring to?

ADT has many side effects the end result being that you feel you are a very different person than you were before. Your libido is gone, your body is falling apart you have greater chances of all sorts of serious infirmities like cardiovascular disease, diabetes etc. A previuosly healthy person suddenly has metabolic syndrome. It is not a pretty picture. However the alternative is rapid progression of a deadly disease. So we need to learn to accept the new us. Getting away from the modes of thinking that worked in the past can be beneficial. Various psychoactive drugs can help. Hallucinogens can offer a more hopeful perspective in understanding and accepting our place in the universe and our future transition from that which is known to that which is not . Cannabis can help to shift our focus away from our daily routines that might not be working.

I have used the ADT Orgovyx for two months now, and have so side effects. Maybe that's because I am 81 so testosterone was already low.

Dear Spencoid2,

I see from your bio and other postings that you have been through a heck of a lot of PCa treatments. I am sorry that you have suffered so much.

I am very familiar with the adverse effects of ADT as we discuss them in detail in the ADT book. And I agree that they can indeed be debilitating.

However, as person who has been on a couple of different ADT protocols almost continuously for over 20 years, I have found that they need not be as problematic as you describe. Two things seem to make a difference. One is the drugs that one uses for ADT. The other is one's lifestyle (also discusses in the ADT book).

You start your posting with the statement, "ADT has many side effects the end result being that you feel you are a very different person than you were before." I don't see how psilocybin can help one feel like the "person than you were before [ADT]". I'm thus asking a more specific question, "What SPECIFIC ADT side effects does psilocybin help with?" I suspect that it may help with depression, but do you think it can help with, say, metabolic syndrome? I'e like to hear what others who have used these psychoactive compounds think they help with BEYOND depression.

what is the title of the ADT book referred to?

Wassersug profile image
Wassersug in reply tojacknust

The title of the ADT book is "Androgen Deprivation Therapy: An essential guide for prostate cancer patients and their loved ones". The third edition came out a year ago and is still quite up to date. The book was rigorously reviewed by both the Canadian Urological Association and the European Association of Urology. Both organization gave it their official endorsement. Furthermore the book was First Place Winner of the American Journal of Nursing 2024 Book Award in Consumer Health.

Note I an NOT posting this to try to sell the book,, but if you look it up online you'll see that I am one of the contributing authors.

I can't use cannibis because of it's interaction with Erleada, but I do practice microdosing under a strict schedule described by Paul Stamets, the mushroom guy. Been doing it for a year. Definitely clears brain fog.

I see that apalutamide decreases the effect of cannabis, listed as a serious interaction. I guess because it might lead to using too much cannabis. Is that the interaction you refer to?

I found it’s really the alcohol that’s intensified , pot is around normal for me.

I've tried/use both...gummies for sleep, and they generally work okay. They knock me out fairly quick, but still not sleeping much past 5-6 hrs/night. I've microdosed mushrooms more for mental acuity. I don't seem to notice any difference, but my wife says she has seen an improvement in me since I started.

I use gummies consisting of 1.1.1 10mg THC/CBN/CBD. They help with sleep.
