My PSA tripled in 8 months

I had my RP in Jan 31, 2023, started hormonal therapy from April 17 with Diphereline every 28 days plus one Casodex daily. My PSA went down to 0.005 from May to November. Yesterday I had my blood test again and the report indicated my PSA has jumped to 0.159. I am panic. Can you explain what does that mean and anything I should do?

Also I wonder if I can take any Zinc ? I stay away from red meat but at times I have no choice but to eat a little. I take Calcium, Magnesia and Zinc tablet about three times a week ,perhaps I should not. By the way, I found there are two ways of blood test, one is by nuclear medicine lab, the other by ordinary lab by serum. Which one is more reliable? My test is always done by nuclear medicine Lab. But their readings are different. I had one time got two result one by serum at 0.006 and 0.05 by NML.

Your advise and knowledge of PSA indication would be much appreciated. By the way, I am 80 this year and still suffering from incontinence.

What is your testosterone level?

My earlier eply seemed have been missing. My last test on dec 18 shows my testostorone is 0.17. My previous test was 0.10. When I started my hormonal therapy on april 17 it was 8.55.I will appreciate your profound knowledge of prostate cancer. My response to hormonal therapy had been good till this time but only about 8 months after my prostatectomy.

I suggest you re-take your PSA test. Do not change labs.

Why are you taking all those mineral supplements? Is that something your doctor advised based on your bloodwork?

Hi, Allen: as you recommended, I took another blood test on Jan 10 which came back yesterday showing my PSA 0.076 and Testostorone 0.08. I gather 0.076 means detectable (used to be 0.05 for the last 7 months till the last checkup in December showing 0.156). Should I request to add zytiga to my treatment? Your opinion is appreciated.

That looks better! I'm glad it was just a lab error.

Mr. TA: So many poeple depend on you for advise and you took time to answer my question ( so far you are the only one) . I am much touched. I saw my urologist today who wanted me to check my PSA next month again, just like what you suggested me to do. My doctor said if I have some infection the PSA may be effected. I am having flu at the moment and wonder if that has to do with it. I take mineral supplements on my own. I thought it will help me. I still wonder about the PSA test by serum and by nuclear medicine lab. Their numbers are so much different. I asked my doctor to check my serum PSA but he said no, only nulcear medcine lab ( I am not in USA).

I think people are probably celebrating Christmas 🎄 otherwise you’d have 19 or 20 responses atleast. At your age, I wouldn’t worry about a thing until your psa reaches atleast 2 which your Dr will probably confirm with you. I had the surgery Jan’22, year before you n also did about 8 months of ADT, couldn’t stand being testosterone deprived and decided to research alternatives, after about 7 months of researching decided to only use ivermectin cbd oil turmeric n yes zinc. My psa has steadily declined from 1.95 down to.95 in less than a year and my mo is fascinated how the psa n Pca has declined so readily over the year when my testosterone has returned. I’m coming in around 500 which might be 5.00 on your scale. If your psa gets anywhere near 2.0 you can always incorporate ivm n cbd oil and watch it drop like mine did… good luck 🍀 n don’t worry about a thing, enjoy your life n have a very merry Christmas 🎁..😁🎉

Thank Nfler for taking time to respond to my anxiety at this blessed season of Christmas. I thought of tryng Ivermectin myself. Can you expand more " only use ivermectin cbd oil turmeric n yes zinc" ? I had my prostatate removed so will zinc do any good to me?
