Should I be concerned about a PSA of 0.53 after SBRT treatment for one spot.

After 18 months of undetectable PSA (after ADT & 44 IMRT treatments) , my PSA started to rise this summer and was 2.66 at it's highest. My RO send me for a PSMA- Pet scan and he found one spot on T-10. 5 treatment with SBRT in Oct - Nov and now on Dec 6th my PSA was tested to 0.53.

Should I be concerned or do I wait for the next PSA!

You could wait for the next PSA. A new PSMA PET/CT will probably show a new spot somewhere.

My RO wishes to wait 3 months before measuring PSA. mdpi.com/2072-6694/12/8/2180

That's a typical PSA response. No one knows if there is any benefit.

Sometimes it takes a few months for the full benefit as cancer dies off. Radiation doesn’t kill cancer but affects its ability to make new cells due to the damage it does to cancer genetics. So it can take a while to die off, meanwhile you’re headed in the right direction, I’d be very pleased with that result! I’m currently waiting on getting blood drawn for first PSA after SBRT to a rib just before thanksgiving. I had SBRT to a different rib last year this time and my PSMA this time around showed it almost completely resolved so it DOES work.

Thanks for the advice. I was looking for someone that had gone thru what I had done. Keep up the fight!

How frequent are your PSA tests?

My RO has agreed with me that I should get a PSA test every three months for the first year. After the first year I want one every six months.

PSA trajectory is many more times as important than any single PSA test.
