My husband was DX April 2021 MPc, Stage IV, PSA 335, BRACA2. Lupron, Erleada, Provenge, Lynparza (still on), Zytiga/Pred (still on). PSA rose from 2.64 Feb 2023 to 44 Sept 2023. Biggest jumps on the last three months, 10 to 44.
He is approved for 177lu, but there are a lot of unsuccessful stories on this blog with 177lu.
Blood panel hasn’t really changed much from before and after Lynparza. He does have some kidney disease so we watch his Creatinine, this month it was at 1.5. He has been on Lynparza since January 2023. He does have more side affects with Lupron, Zytiga/Pred and Lynparza than he had with Lupron/Erleada (2 years) and the short while January 2023 to June 2023 with just Lupron and Lynparza. He started Zytiga/Pred in July 2023. June 2023 PSA 10.65, July 2023 PSA 24.33, August 2033 PSA 30.83, September 2023 PSA 44.62.
We are scheduling another PSMA scan. The scan in June 2023 when his PSA was 10.65 showed little difference from his PSMA scan in December 2022 when his PSA was 2.6. It seems based on all the scans he has done his PSA level is commensurate with growth or depletion of cancer in his body, so we are anticipating and increased level of cancer activity. 😢
He still plays Pickleball 4-5 days a week. He has none of the pain he had at diagnosis, and while lethargy is an issue, he is remaining active.
I have been reading posts on this group for about 2 years, and what seems so challenging to me is every man’s treatment is different once the cancer become resistant. It’s like the Prostate cancer cells have their own unique make-up and a different response in every man.
I had hoped Zytiga would be his answer like it was for Todd Seals! But it’s not, so we are in search of a new hope.
I believe this clioquinol + zinc is working for my. Ive only been on it since Aug 11 but observed reduced hardness in my perineum and a 2" diameter hardness on my breast is now the size of a dime. Ask your oncologist if it might be prolactin dependent cancer.
I wish there was more research on this therapy than results from just one person in the trial. I checked to see if there was any clinical trials and could not find any. What I did find and read on Zinc and Dopamine receptor drugs in relation to Prostate Cancer shows it could be promising as a cancer reduction therapy. Thank you for recommending to ask our oncologist. We don’t want to encourage anyone to take anything that may affect their current medications. Keep posting how you are doing because there have been times in history a therapy has been discovered through the perseverance of one person, i.e. Lorenzo’s Oil. We all want a cure. And to say we are ‘desperate for a cure to cancer’ would not be an understatement.
I have been looking into 2 therapies in trial which I am sure have been mentioned somewhere on here: ARX517 (FDA fast-tracked) and for DNA variants, Olaparib and RP-3500. Both of which look very promising.
If possible D D D can you give us more info regarding your bio? All info is voluntary but it helps us help you and helps us too......Thanks!!! Keep Posting....
Thank you!!! Unfortunately like most men, your dear husband will remember his April 28, 2021 anniversary but keep forgetting his wedding anniversary (par for the course). I would like to forget both of those dates ( Pca and wedding with first wife, that is)...
Thanks again............. BTW if you two happen to be the last ones leaving California, would you please turn off the lights..........Never mind the lights were probably off for a few years anyway. Cause no more electricity to generate from that dirty word, (first looking around to see if the AC/DC police are watching even though I think they also ran out of power - meant that in both ways) "FOSSIL" fuel......oops I said it...
BTW I'm in the midst of writing a 1/2 novel (1/2 means, I can't think of an ending) which is entitled, "Was it making love in the dark or my Pca meds which ruined my sex life?" Votes not required, thank you again.... Stay well and keep posting.... I always wanted to move to California but I've changed my mind and now it's New Zealand,
I actually have searched for that ‘little cabin on a lake’ in every USA state, and I have yet to find a location with no snow, little rain and sunshine 300 days a year. I haven’t stopped looking though! 🤗
Rubraca has not come up in any conversation. I’m wondering if it’s because he is already on Lynparza, which is a parp-inhibitor. I will ask about it though. Thanks for the suggestion.
