Erleada side effects

Would like to hear from those with personal experience that have added Erleada to ADT ( Lupron, Firmagon, Orgovyx). What additional side effects did you experience ( fatigue, cognitive, lab test changes, rash, etc). Not looking for studies or drug mfg info, I'm able to look at that. Want to hear real life experiences from those that have that info. Thanks!

I am on Firmagon and just added Erleada 3 months ago. After one month on it, I experienced some minor rashes but it disappeared within a week or so and so far I haven’t noticed anything else except the fatigue and hot flashes which I think coming From Firmagon

I was on Lupron + Erleada for 24 of 26 total months of ADT. After adding it at the 2 month mark I never noticed additional side effects beyond the fatigue and hot flashes I had from Lupron alone.

I was on both for a short time. Additional side effects - anxiety, , insomnia, added stomach fat, neuropathy in my toes and fingers, edema in legs and feet. After about a month or so I had an orchiectomy so was just on Erleada alone. l still had the hot flashes, Doc cut my dose by 20%. I just stopped it recently on my own.

Doing well on both Orgovyx and Erleada now for a year and a half. I haven’t noticed any clearly-discernible additional side effects while on both, though I wonder sometimes whether it’s the meds or just aging that slows me down some. I did slightly decrease my dosing of Erleada to lessen potential financial toxicity.

Pretty costly?

Try applying for financial aid for Erleada. Go to newprograminfo.com and download form. Fill out carefully following instructions. It's worth the effort. My cost is $0.

Taking Erleada every day and Lupron every 3 months since April 2020. Side effects are brain fog, fatigue, some nausea and dizziness. Not every day, not always as intense. For brain fog and fatigue I take 200mg Provigil per day, works pretty well. Bone density normal so far and muscle loss is not great in either sense of the word.

Don't believe the naysayers but do believe you will experience side effects. These side effects are much preferable to the cancer so buck up and best wishes!

How much of your side effects do you attribute to the erleada?

There is no possible way to know that because I started both at about the same time. One oncologist told me that Lupron is responsible for fatigue but I don't know. I also take Ozempic for diabetes and that is responsible for some of the mild nausea.

3 years in on Erleada/Lupron. More fatigue after working, and a little fogginess at times, with the hot flashes, but really tolerated well on the whole.

No rash?

None at all, no cardiac issues, slight chesticles, a little bit of extra belly fat and very soft skin and a creepy resemblance to my Mother, but I’m still watching M Impossible over the Barbie movie and my ability to cuss and swear at car drivers when I’m riding my Guzzi is still impressive

9 years on intermittent ADT. 9 months on Lupron and Erleada. More fatigue with erleada, mild rash. My T is coming back slower but I do not know if that’s from Erleada or just accumulated affects of ADT overall.

I've been taking Erleada in combination with 3-month Lupron injections for about two years with no side effects. My PSA has remained undetectible and my testosterone has also remained at 3 during that entire period. Thoroughly recommend these medications.

Been on Erleada and Lupron for 8 months. Before that i was on Zytiga. Zytiga crushed my liver so went to Erleada. Fatigue and brain fog for sure. Work out as much as you can. Helps with all the SE’s.

What made you change from Erleada to zytiga?

Lunbo profile image
Lunbo in reply toStayingOptimistic

Zytiga stopped working but after 6 subsequent years on Erleada, Xtandi and Nubeqa, restarted Zytiga thinking it might work again and it did for a short time. Then started chemo and ultimately Pluvicto, which has reduced PSA by 95% which is now less than ten and am on hiatus until it rises.
