Pet scan Aug 8, 2022 showed 5 lymph nodes with CA. Urologist started me on Xtandi and referred me to an Oncologist who started Degarelix injections. Oct 25, 2022 stopped taking Xtandi due to intolerable side effects; started Bicalutamide.
PSA was 0.47 in Oct with gradual increase to 4.8 in Apr. Oncologist says since I have no symptoms I should get not worry about thr PSA number. (Easy for him to say).
I was diagnosed Nov 2004 at 67 yrs old. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY SYMPTOMS. Treatments include Chemo, hormone therapy and targeted radiation.
I’m beginning to believe I’ll die from old age before the CA gets me. Good luck to you. Racoonwar

Although you are 85, my gut says your MO is writing you off and if so that is wrong. Taxotere sounds like it should have been involved. Has your prostate been removed? What about therapeutic radiation (SBRT or proton)? The next time you see your MO discuss NCCN guidelines applicable to your case. Be able to cite key trials like STAMPEDE and CHARTED. You need to get a radiation oncologist involved.
The xtandi was more effective keeping the PSA down, maybe try to take the lesser dose as suggested here and /or I read some people take it at nighttime ? When were you taking it?
i would go back on xtandi right away. It is very good at stopping or slowing progression for quite awhile. The bicalutamide is better than nothing but not very strong. Dont let the monster slip out of his cage!!
Try taking the xtandi in the early evening about 2 hrs before bedtime. Start with 75% dose, if still untolerable then reduce to 50%. But remember the full dose gives the most benefits
