HDRT Recommended for stage 7 and 8 cancer found in seminal vesicles

After repeated biopsies cancer was found in November. My PSA is now over 14 I have completed all scans including new MRI’s and cystoscopy no other cancer has been found. I had my first Firgamon injection today and waiting for what comes next. My doctor is one of the best from MSCC and I do have confidence in him. I’m fighting fear because I didn’t get any second opinions or seek out alternatives treatments. I never saw any Medical Oncologist and I am wondering if I need one going forward. This is a recurring cancer. I had brachytherapy in 2012 and basically been pretty good since then. It’s ironic that my biggest concerns were hormonal meds sexual side affects and now that concern is all but gone now.

Thanks for listening.

Sorry I meant Gleason score 7 and 8 on biopsies.

Hopefully, this salvage treatment will be curative. Save the medical oncologist for if it doesn't work out.

I have an MO and did have HDR Brachytherapy done at MSKCC(see bio). My MO admins my ADT and Prolia injections. We also discuss next if my initial treatment fails. Maybe personal preference but I like havin a MO on my team.

Thanks for MO information. I think MSKCC is a great hospital

understanding is that Firmagon/ADT is not considered a possibly curative salvage treatment, but have you been told that it is ?

Sorry, looking a bio, this HDBT will be your initial treatment and hopefully curative , correct?

I would discuss with an MO. I believe there is evidence that in some patients adding abiraterone can increase the percentage of people saved with salvage radiation. In addition increasing the duration of antitestosterone therapy to 2 years can also help. To me it never hurts to get more information.

Thank you. I will research and ask my RO what he thinks. I agree get as much info as you can but you need to know which questions to ask. Post like yours are very helpful.
