Free testosterone

See my profile for more details on history. G9 RP 10/2013, PSA rose again over 2.5 yrs. SRT to prostate bed only. Radiation completed 8/15/16. PSA slowly rising again over the last 6 years. Last quarter PSA jumped from 0.236 to 0.364. No ADT throughout my entire PCA history. My Radiologist has asked for Free testosterone tests the last 3 quarters. Not sure why? My Free Testosterone has increased from 8.0, 8.1 and 9.5(last quarter). I have an appointment with my Radiologist end of January to discuss PSA rise. I assume in the very near future will be a PSMA PET scan once PSA is high enough. I realize I have a BCR with 3 PSA tests over 0.2. What is the significance of testing Free Testosterone?

Unless your testosterone is unusually complexed with SHBG, there is no significance.

Hi,

May I ask your Total Testosterone level? You said that you never got Lupron injections right? So I assume that your Testosterone level is normal or even high?

My testosterone typically runs in the high 300's around 380 +/-. This quarters test results total testosterone was 311. Due to extensive travel, I was lucky to get in 5 miles a week of running in comparison to my average 20-mile week.
