AN UPDATE POST STARTING A VACATION: PT3bN1M0 STG 4A

After RP, Whole Pelvic Radiation and ADT for 30 months with a largely non detectable PSA my Rad Onco and I decided to try a vacation. I had my last 3 monthly Zolodex shot on 05 Apr 22 with effect up to Jul 22.

Some interesting aspects in the last six months are as follows:

firstly, the testosterone has moved from <2.5 to 12 with no noticeable impact physically.

secondly, hot flashes are reduced but continue.

thirdly, the PSA has increased from 0.02 to 0.04 in one lab while another continues to show <0.01. This is probably because some labs show anything less than 0.05 as non-detectable based on whatever I have read on this group. This is perhaps a cause of some concern but shall wait and watch for some time.

fourthly, had a session of mild dysuria and gross hematuria early October which lasted intermittently for three weeks with gaps of 3 to 7 days. Haven't had an episode for almost one month now. My Rad Onco wanted me to undergo a cystoscopy with biopsy if required, but the urologist felt it was not warranted as yet due to PSA level, clear ultrasound and undetected blood in urine tests between the episodes and negatives in three random urine cytology tests. He suggested waiting for my annual PSMA Pet Scan due in Jan 23 and take a call on the cystoscopy thereafter. I decided to go along with the urologist.

Although I stay mostly on 'Listening Watch'' (in army jargon) on this support group, I cannot but admire the great positivity it exudes and the indomitable spirit of its participants. Perhaps the greatest benefit I have personally had is it assists me in not panicking and taking a more considered view. Indeed, very grateful to all of and especially those who take so much interest in responding to everyone's queries. God bless you guys.

As always would welcome any suggestions or comments.

That is really no change in T.

Bleeding often occurs after salvage radiation as scar tissue from the anastomosis sloughs off.

Thanks TA, that's what the urologist said too. As far as PSA is concerned, I thought it's early days yet with no change in testosterone to take any calls.

When I find a PSA descrepency higher than 20% between the two time interleaved labs that I regularly use there is a third one I use as an arbiter.

Interesting you have yearly PSMA scans in India where in the US we have to fight the insurance company for any.
