ADT Vacation Update/Change of Plan

4 months after beginning ADT vacation I’m at MDA to visit my doctors (PSA =0.2, T=119). My MO was out with a cough and Dr. Efstathiou agreed to see me. She turned my treatment plan upside down, for the better I think. She wants me to get a PET-PSMA scan at UCLA once my PSA reaches between 0.5 and 1.0. If scan shows activity then go back on ADT and then zap mets. This differs radically from my ROs plan to wait till PSA reaches 2.0. Further she is ordering a genetic sequencing blood test for today and also wants to see if there was enough material from my ilium biopsy to check for something but I missed what she said. She also wants another blood test to determine if my AlkP increase from 40 to 57 is due to liver issues. Additionally she’s given me open orders for a full blood work-up monthly, not just PSA and T. Aggressive and proactive! We asked if I could switch to her as my MO and she agreed.

Thanks Whimpy. It was really a fluke! Had my MO not been out sick I would never had met with her. It was my wife who blurted out at the end of our meeting with Dr. E, “Will you be our new MO?” She said sure, no problem.

I like Dr. Tu. He’s smart and a good doctor IMO

They all have their strengths and weaknesses, like any group of people. I have always heard good things about Dr. E.
