Rise in testosterone

How concerned should we be if husband’s testosterone has risen from 3 to 34. (Diagnosed Stage 4/metastatic in Sept. 2017. Lupron/Zytiga/prednisone beginning in Jan.2018 and PSA has been undetectable since May 2018.) Last testosterone reading was November 2021. (It has been at 3 since 2019.) Test results from routine physical yesterday yielded the reading of 34. Last oncology checkup/testing was done at Vanderbilt on Oct.12, 2022, but testosterone is not tested when we make that visit (quarterly). Interested in your thoughts/opinions. Thank you .

It seems it is better to have the testosterone below 20.

Is he taking bicalutamide? This drug may increase the levels of testosterone.

If not taking bicalutamide you could discus changing to other meds which could decrease the testosterone.

Thanks for the quick response. He is not taking bicalutamide. He has sent an email to his oncologist with this new info. Hopefully she will repsond sooner than later…

34 is OK (anything below 50 is castrate). Maybe the lupron wore off more quickly in that injection. Probably a fluke. If T continues to go up, he can switch to Orgovyx.

Sorry to hear it. I was diagnosed stage 4 metastatic this year and am on similar treatment plan it sounds like. I am new to this site so have no meaningful info to share. But please keep us posted and stay positive.

under 50 still ok. Ask MO to check the testosterone level along with routine PSA
