More Radiation for bone pain?

I have had a good 6 year run since my diagnosis of stage 4 PC back in 2016. Odds were 70% that I would be dead by now. But now the Zytiga is wearing off…PSA is at a 4 month doubling rate and I have been experiencing more pain in my lower pelvis (ischial tuberosity) due to the advancement of the MPC in that area. I had 1 shot of radiation about a month ago but pain is no different.

I have had a few pathological fractures (rib and lower pelvis). Back on Zometa after a 2 year break. Bone density is low but no change since last one 2 years ago.

I also have been experiencing numbness and muscle wasting in my left arm and no strength in my hand. Something is going on in my upper spine that they think is causing this. Just had an MRI for that.

My MO wants to put me on a high dose of Dexamethazone (currently on 5 a day with the Zytiga). I am very reluctant to do this but if it helps then I would do so. Waiting to see what the MRI shows.

She thinks it is time for another round of Docetaxel. I can also get more radiation but not sure if I should if they start chemo.

Just wanting to hear from others who are in this same position and how they are being treated. I do not qualify for the gene mutation related therapy.

I live in Calgary Alberta where we have access to all of the best treatments. Our health care system is unbelievably good for patients like me. My treatment from day one has cost me exactly $0. So I am very grateful.

thanks everyone

Jim

Sounds like you are fighting it well with medical care, but having pelvic pain and bone fractures, which is what I call "the pits". I am metastatic since 2012, originally G7 in 2008, taking ADT quarterly and prolia semianually but still have very little pain and no fractures. I tend to work on anti-cancer diet and self-treatments as well as the medical treatments, and maybe you could benefit from some of what I am doing in self treatment. I don't have any pelvic mets but I suppose you might benefit from heat there. Also lycopenes tend to reduce pain from mPC growth.

Everybody is different.I am now off Zytiga. PSA is undetectable.

I wish you best luck. 🙏
