At my Oncology Day Clinic, I was given Mycostatin (oral drops for fungal infections [thrush] of the mouth), and bioXtra (mouthwash for dry mouth). I have not been able to find any recommendations online regarding the need to use these agents after t having the Zometa infusion or taking the Nubeqa tablets. I was also given Pantoprazole which reduces the amount of acid your stomach makes and Valoid for nausea. At this point after one month on Nubeqa and one Zometa infusion, I have no nausea or any oral issues.
I was wondering if anyone else on Zometa, Nubeqa, Enzalutamide, etc. is taking these types of medicines for oral hygiene or gastrointestinal issues. Are they recommended as prevention?
Thanks.

Thanks for responding. My hospital’s Oncology Day Clinic which is administering the Zometa and watching my bloods for the Nubeqa recommended the oral hygiene agents. I have not found any other mention of their use either.
I believe extractions, and other procedures have a higher risk of osteonecrosis, it does not mean any of the procedures automatically end up in osteonecrosis.
Some dentists may be leery. It is not unusual to come very near or contact bone in the course of preparing and impressioning teeth for crowns and/ or bridges. Generally though I agree that the risks are low compared with extractions (or periodontal surgery, placement of implants, or other procedures in which bone is directly or indirectly involved).
totally agree with tango. Take good care of your mouth, never go to bed without using your water pick brushing and flossing. Also, you can use Braggs ACV very diluted with water, to gargle.
