In the recent "Losing Muscles" thread (healthunlocked.com/advanced..., some of the responses mentioned and briefly discussed HMB use as a supplement to combat muscle loss associated with ADT. I'm alert to this subject because, in spite of spending lots of time with weights and resistance machines at my health club, after 3+ years of this and ADT, I've actually lost a little weight (I started skinny) but I have a new spare tire and belly flab, and my arms are skinnier than ever.
I tend to be skeptical of supplements, But, from my online research, HMB looks pretty harmless, and it might even help me restore some muscle mass. So the purpose of this thread is to try to get opinions and experiences from my brothers who use and/or know a lot about HMB.

I passed on the HMB after talking to my trainer, she said results are not consistent. Opted for the Ostarine for quick muscle gain and the bonus affect of suppressing T. Having great success with it
Try whatever you think will help, but if you’re ‘spending lots of time’ with weights and are skinny-fat anyway your best option is to work harder and eat more, providing it’s healthy and carbs are low.
This will make a much bigger difference than anything you can take
Guys like to think that results at the gym are proportional to time spent there far more than it actually is. Intensity and progressive resistance is what matters.
Be honest with yourself about your level of effort. The majority of older guys I see in gyms are not putting in nearly enough to make any real progress.
Get a good trainer if you can afford one. Someone who will push you, not talk about restaurants and travel.
London, skinny-fat is a term I haven't heard before, but it certainly describes me. Your advice is good. I'm probably that old guy you see that's not pushing themselves enough.
Thanks for not taking it personally. It’s a fairly common term in some circles, but I only used it for you based on your own description 😀
Kiss skinny-fat goodbye! Almost no price is too high, yet the work winds up feeling easier than we could have imagined on the front end because the payoff is so crazy good.
