I recently became aware of Leucine and more particularly HMB and the apparent benefits that they appear to provide (increase in strength despite sarcopenia and use of ADT). I searched this board for HMB and was surprised that all the posts were 2 years old or more.
This seems like a really good tool to use while on ADT so I am wondering why there are not more posts on this. Has some nefarious side effect been discovered? The only medical article on HMB and ADT I have seen is this one and it looks encouraging enough that I have ordered some in order to give it a shot.
Any news?On my end, I think am already seeing results as I feel myself getting bigger instead of staying the same despite the exercise. Sadly, I don't feel like I have much more energy.

YUP. Just saw that on a Bike Forum. Interesting - but also thinking about might there be any PCa consequences??
Thanks for including the link to preliminary results. The trial end date was 2020, so I’m surprised I couldn’t find any other published results. It does sound intriguing.
Sorry that HMB doesn't interact well with your body. If you don't mind sharing... What kind of allergy reaction did you suffer from? A rash or something worse?
HMB is an indirect source of Leucine (BCAA) which is important in maintaining muscle mass protein. But it needs to be in the context of 1) generous supply of high quality complete dietary protein, 1.5 mg/kg not just 0.8, especially for us with APCa. And 2) Sufficient whole-body regular exercise including fairly intense resistance exercise at least 1-2X every week.
The following linked Peter Attia MD Podcast (The Drive) goes deeply into this and is very worthwhile. The later portion specifically addresses maintaining muscle mass and strength in older folks, and in APC on ADT . Very reassuring that muscle loss is not inevitable.
HMB could be a fine addition to a whey protein drink, but may not be necessary.
