Dealing with flashs
For hot flashes? My friend swears by it.
Tried it and hated it. I think I lasted about five days. Can’t remember exactly what the side effects were but I just couldn’t tolerate them.
I'm on 75 mg of Venlafaxine. It definitely reduced the frequency and intensity of my hot flashes. As a bonus it profoundly improved my mood and killed my anxiety. My only side effect has been some hand tremor but that has been improving over time. It's worth a try.
I tried it one time. I took it at bedtime, woke up in the middle of the night with bad cramping and nausea, progressed to diarrhea and vomiting, profuse sweating, dizziness. Nighttime flashes are bad enough that I may try again.
Tried it.. shot my BP up to dangerous levels. It took three BP meds and one year to finally come back into control. Estradiol patch worked much better for me.
Started on 75ng and it did diminsh intensity. Only problem i had was when i forgot to take it i had all these strange noises in my head. Same when i tried to get off it. Otherwise worth a try.
I am on 37.5 mg and it did help reduce the hot flashes and improved the mood (according to my wife!), although not as much as I would like. No major side effects. The MO recommended I take 75 mg, which I will start next week. The only issue is hand tremors, which I had a little before I started and it got a little worse. I have never head of that before john_in_pa mentioned it. We will see with the 75 mg. I did use the patches, which worked well but MO said stop due to clotting issues.
37.5 mg has been working for me. It cut intensity and frequency in half without any side effects. It is time-released and I take mine before bed.
Tried it for one dose. Evoked a severe headache and nausea.
Like everything, your mileage may vary. I am like DennisCA. No side effects. Severity reduced and wife stopped calling me "Dick".
Megestrol (megace) finally works for grumpy’s night time hot flashes.
