We frequently talk about new treatment options which is important. Another question I have is what research and advances are out there for there for pain control ?

Not sure about anything new in pain relief. But I can tell you, a good care team will keep prescribing until you are comfortable. I have had a few different levels of pain this past summer. I found simple pain is much easier to deal with than extreme pain. I found that it is damn hard to eliminate opioids after a couple months of heavy usage. I found that with pain, this cancer really sucks and so does life. Without pain, Life is good.

I am on a Keytruda treatment regime currently, and began this along with ADT and radiation treatments. Seems we have beaten the beast down for now, and I have been pain free for a few months. (finding wood to knock on). Many others on Keytruda here with great results too.

Praying these good results keep coming in, and hoping you too find the best plan that fits and works for you. We are all here with cancers hitting us differently, and all hoping for new treatments that are coming to be the fix.

Yes , yes , I agree with you about opioids brother. I wonder what measures you are taking to avoid dreaded OIC ? I’d appreciate your thoughts on that. Opioids are powerful plugs.

I’m currently using Metamucil psyllium fiber bulk , senna softeners and sennosides stimulant and lots of water intake daily … but it still doesn’t always seem to be real reliable . Thanks.

Taco Bell.

JK! I too used the senna, lots of water and Miralax. It was like going to war in the mornings. Even after getting off the meds now, still a surprise how the mornings go due to the radiation.

Kal, you are on a whole new level of pain management and are my idol. Merry Christmas brother!

Thanks big guy. Well lots and lots of guys here are on multiple kinds of pain meds , like eating M&Ms yayahahahaya. It’s not all that, no biggie really. I’m just part of the crowd.

Kaiser has been extremely stingy with pain meds , never mind palliative care. Also very stringent pestering opiate abuse testing too. Just recently my GP finally opened up and got serious about what I need for quality palliative care for the first time and I almost soiled myself yayahahahaya yayahahahaya. and told me to use what I need to be comfortable and she’d adjust my prescriptions any way necessary. Kaiser has upped the quality of their senior care …75 and older … and received national acclaim for it. Seemed pretty late getting here locally tho. Lol

Hope you and your loved ones have a great Christmas and New Year brother , I appreciate your kind thoughts.

AMITIZA works for OIC. That with Senna keeps him regular. But it’s pricey.

Many Medical Institutions have a pain clinics. They are usually run by anesthesiologists and they know all the techniques and meds available to try to control pain. If there is a teaching Medical Center you can reach most probable they have a pain clinic.

End stage disease pain. Curious stimulators like what is used for chronic back pain could be used. Anything that can be added to that that help pain control and QOL.

I understand there's a common home cleaner that if you scrub it on your area of pain it will instantly make the pain disappear, The name of this product is "Tilex"......
