Having pain even psa is low

Hello!

I'm here for my dad, its almost his 1 year since he diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer mets to bones( several spots).

Start zytiga abiraterone in 4 Nov 2020, condition have been stable and psa been low in last few months. In july his psa is <0.03, but today he having more serious pain at his back and pelvis area is this normal? He didn't want us to worry, keep telling that his belly is bloated hence it pressed on the nerve so it hurts him and once the bloating goes away it will be fine. Should i bring him to the hospital?

Back pain is usually caused by degenerative processes which usually become more prominent with ADT and anti androgens. It is not an emergency. Consult with your doctor about a MRI study to determine the cause of the pain.

Thank you, the doctor arranged a bone density scan and result be out on the 21 sept, i will talk to the doctor about it thank you so much

The dexa is a study to determine bone density only . I doubt bloating can pinch nerves in the back and cause pain. The MRI is the scan of choice to detect degenerative processes which could be pinching or compressing nerves and causing pain, If there were metastases they could be detected by the MRI study,

He did a MRI Scan last year when he was diagnosed pca. we were told we were lucky the cancer wasn't pressing on this nerve. He have lesser pain today, should i request another MRI Scan since it have been a year. Thank you very much for your input.

He could have a repeated MRI since he is having pain in his back. They should study the cause of the pain.

Because his original PSA was 116, it would be unusual for bone metastases to cause pain with his PSA so low.

The pain was sudden it happened in the morning, and he is all good for the rest of the day. Could it be just he is bloated and pinching the nerve?

Who knows without an MRI, but I have had back issues off and on for most of my adult life. When it gets really bad I have to end up getting an epidural injection. This is how they discovered my PCa, I was having back issues after helping my parents move. The testing for the back issues also turned up the cancer.
