Hi it’s been a while since my last past.

My oncologist is changing me from Casodex to Erleada. I was on Casodex for about 5-1/2 years. Do any of you guys have any experience with Erleada?

-From your experience what is the best time of the day to take Erleada.

-There seem to be a lot of side effects. Have any of had any side effects

-I like to have a few beers. Will I still be able too have a beer or 2.

You mentioned in one of your posts that you take Lupron plus Casodex. So now you take Lupron plus Erleada?

Marco....You are saying that Casodex worked for you for 5 1/2 years. Is it not working anymore? Because if Casodex can work for 5 years..it can also work for 10 or even more years. What,s the reasoning of your Doctor for changing it ?.You are right ...Erleada has much more side effects than Casodex.

Hi from what my Oncologist said - My PSA raised over 3 consecutive test he thought it was time to move on from Casodex. He said I could have some cancer floating around in me. It could be that at my initial diagnosis my PSA was 1,882 and I can cancer in most all my lymph nodes and bones. This may be the reason he thought it was time to move on.

Ok. If there is definite evidence of progression in PSA and/or ALP ..based on sound interpretation of labs and scans.. then, it makes sense to upgrade the treatment from Casodex to Erleada.

My PSA went up over 3 blood test. I knew a change in medication was coming. I was hoping to put it off as long as I could. I always want to make sure there is another drug if the one I am taking stops working. I hope there is another drug if the Erleada stops working. It is new to me so now time to do some more research. Have a Good Weekend

Doxatel....real chemo?

I took taxotere at first when my treatment started.

Not to worry, there are more tools in your MO’s toolkit. Another round of chemotherapy (docetaxel) is one option. There are also immunotherapy clinical trials. I am facing one of these options, likely within the next 6-9 months as my cancer has beaten abiraterone and Erleada. It must continue to progress before pulling the trigger on the next step.

Best wishes!

Thank you for your reply- good luck on your next treatment- I will be watching. I forgot to mention I also did Provenge about 5 years ago.

Do you have metastases? If the PSA is going up when treated with ADT plus Casodex and testosterone is less than 50, the cancer could be consider castration resistant. If there is not evidence of metastases in a bone scan and in a CT scan, you could qualify for Darolutamide which has less side effects than Erleada since it does not cross the brain blood barrier.

When I first started treatments I had a PSA of 1,882, cancer in most all my lymph nodes (found the cancer originally in lymph node in my neck) and metastases in most all my bones. That was 5-1/2 years ago. I was diagnosed-at 47 years old.

That is an outstanding run on bicalutamide. Remember when it fails it fails hard and promotes the cancer. 3 PSA increases is a good reason to hit the silk on this one. All the best.

I've been taking Erleada now for 3 months alongside Lupron every 3 months, and while fatigue has worsened and there is some short term "where did I put my glasses/wallet/helmet" memory fatigue and getting up twice a night to pee, I haven't really noticed any other major side effects. I have a beer likely once a week, with no issues.I take the meds in the evening, and I seem to be still alert enough during the day to continue working full time, and recent bloodwork showed PSA at 0.02 and Testosterone at 1.2.

Thank you so much for your input. I usually do not feel good, but I try to look at the bright side at least I am still here. I want to be here for my Grand Sons as long as I can. My Grandsons do not know I am sick and I hope to keep it that way as long as possible. I always thought it was the Lupron that made me sick. I have to tell you this Erleada is taking some getting used too. Hope the side effects lesson over time.

My only irritation with Erleada is the fatigue. I too take mine in the evening but I still crash after lunch almost every day.
