Stopping Erleada Starting Nubeqa

I have been on Erleada since mid-January. It has knocked my PSA down from 13.4 to 1.5 in 5 months.

Unfortunately, I am nauseous all the time.

When I started Erleada I weighed 142.

Today I weigh 129.

No appetite. Not much stays down.

And....onto a new slew of side effects!

Anyone else on Nubeqa/Darolutamide?

Thanks gents.

Any thoughts on going to Zytiga or are you holding off for now

Have any of the anti-nausea medications helped? Maybe cannabis would help?

Good thought.

Compazine and zocor did nothing.

Phenergen knocks me out.

An advice nurse recommended an anti-psychotic for nausea, I did not feel like myself. I smoke cannabis, it may help a little.

Cheers!

My wife and I travel a lot. I've often gotten sick after eating in other countries where the food, water, and bacteria are different from what I'm used to. I told my doctor about it and she gave me some "ondansetron" to take with me. Later, on a trip, I woke up in the middle of the night and was getting more and more nauseous. When I started vomiting I took one of those pills and, within one or two minutes, the nausea was gone and I was able to go back to sleep.

I don't know if these are appropriate for your case but they might be worth asking about. They were originally designed for helping people who were vomiting after chemotherapy or radiation. Here's a link to the FDA label for one brand of them: accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatf...

Best of luck.

Failed Xtandi after 15 successful months. Intense fatigue was major SE. just received 2 month trial of Nubeqa. Have not used yet, Casodex which I began after Xtandi failure still working. Certainly curious if Nubeqa will work after failing Xtandi.

I hope so too. Erleada worked, I could barely eat.

in reply toMJCA

No bueno .

I have no experience with Erleada, but have done some reading about it. It seems to have a profile of more potential interactions than Xtandi, and this could also possibly include something you like eating.

Did you try cutting the dose down to half? Quarter? Some experimenting may find a solution.

Well... I thought about that. This is a cancer drug, I am not a MO or a pharmacist. That option was not brought to the table. So we'll see how Nubeqa does. Today is day 2 and my 130 lb body's tummy is grumbling for a change.

129?

Ice cream, Malted Milk, Milk shakes.... that will make you fat (I speak from experience)..

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Hi John,

My story is a little different. Four years ago I had gastric bypass surgery. I did weigh in at 351. My goal weight was 145. Now I am hovering at 129/130. So, my stomach is 20% of what it was. I need to eat protein primarily and some veg. I have found that on Erleada nothing sounded good. Nothing tasted good. It was really difficult to get ANY food in me. Sweets and rich foods just come back up. Given how large I was I am sure was a contributing factor to being diagnosed stage IV at age 45.

Whoa 🙁

No it didn't. Now, after 3 weeks Darolutamide is giving me nausea, luckily compazine helps! But it makes me more depressed🤨

in reply toMJCA

Any More depression is not needed .. is it? Dam drugs do all kinds of things to us the host .. I hope that you find a path in between the thickets ...Scott 🌵

Hi MJCA, I’m right behind you...stopped Erleada last Friday. For me it was falling down. However, I’m taking a break for a month...hopefully longer. That said, My doc already has me prescribed for Nubeqa, he thinks my PSA will be on the rise after this month.

What about adding a proton pump inhibitor like Prevacid? Many of the oral ADT drugs play havoc with boarderline GERD therapy. When I started Xtandi, my controlled GERDS symptoms came back with a vengeance. Going from 15 mg of Prevacid from once a day to twice a day did the trick. Good Luck! Good food is a gift from the Heavens.
