I have been on everything. Have at PC for 17 years and am now 86. Psa is
up to 84 and would still like to buy some time without compromising quality of life. Never had Chemo Onc. thinks I am not strong enough for it. So he is trying Erleada. Does anyone know anything about it- side effects and whether it will lower my PSA. I have had extandi, zitiga, casodex, radium treatments, etc. but he says this is worth a try.

Wondering why your doctor thinks you are not "strong enough" for chemo. What does that mean?
The chemotherapies for prostate cancer are not that difficult for most. I've done Docetaxel and found it tolerable. Many say Cabazitaxel is easier.
If you've already had Xtandi, Zytiga and Casodex I'd say Erleada would be unlikely to work.
I second Nalakrats on getting gene mapping to see if you have a treatable mutation.
BTW, my dad had chemotherapy for his PCa at 86 and was fine.

So what makes you think you have to do a lot more of anything anyway ? You are 86 and seemingly going pretty strong right now. My friend Bussman , Urang on this group , has been DX’ed over 22years now and ran out of treatments several years ago. His psa has gone from low, to the mid 250s then to beyond 500 nowadays but he is still taking a licking and still ticking with no expectations of checking out anytime soon. Bussman develops places where has to get radiation or an occasional surgery to kill an offending metastasis or fix a bone ... but there is no reason not to expect he can go on for a number of more years.
The point is that , even without additional treatments , you will probably hang on for a number of additional years .... its highly likely you have already beaten PCa because you are statistically more likely to pass from natural causes at your age before the cancer can take you. You just have to try to keep yourself comfortable and enjoy your natural life as it is. It feels like you would be pushing for something you already have.
Those are just my thoughts , your mileage will vary ...

I know how important these infusions are, .....and some are worse than others ( ? Ha! ) , first week of every month is an adventure to say the least.
I’m two full days in , hopefully only two or three more days of the “ pain train “ remains. I hate for my wife to see me like this tho .... The beauty is that sometimes we become complacent with ourselves and our health when we are doing relatively well experiencing stage 4 cancer....... a ride on the Zometa pain train will refresh my appreciation for life considerably yayahahahaya.

Congratulations on your 17 years with Pca. I have been at this 27 years and I have not had chemotherapy yet. Erleada is another androgen deprivation drug. It's generic name is amplitude. It is in with the class of drugs like zytiga, xtandi, casodex, etc. All of these drugs work in a slightly different way.
I have gone through all of these drugs too, and would be interested to see how you fair with Erleada should you go that path.

Wondering if you have considered Estrogen patches?
Low stress easy to use and for me has taken PA from 24 to remission level of <.008 over a three year period.
I'm on Erleada at the moment. Was put on it two months ago to tag team with Eligard. My PSA went from 3.4 to 0.4 in that short time period due to Erleada. I reckon it'll get even lower in the months to come. I'm 64 and the side effects are minor but include a slight small rash for a few days, lower white blood cell count and higher blood pressure which we're monitoring to see where it goes. I added the apalutamide/Erleada instead of going through chemo due to the pandemic. Both lower white blood cell counts but I reckoned that Erleada would do so to a lesser degree than docetaxel. Quite frankly, I'm thrilled with the results so far. EVERYTHING that fights cancer with a bang has side effects.
