Stage four cancer treatment.

Hi All I just started my six months course of Zytiga 500 mg plus two Prednisone 5mg tablets today. I have been having Enatone 11.25 mg injections for 2years and continue to do so. I was wondering if there will be a clash between the different treatments, it would be nice to know if there is anyone having the same treatment. I will be monitored by blood tests every two weeks and a visit to the specialist each month so any problems will be picked up quickly, also hope my second Pfizer jab will not have to fight for a place amongst my new drugs. Wishing you all the very best.

Enatone is basically Leuprolide, another name for Lupron . Enatone blocks production of Androgens(testosterone) and so does Zytiga (Abiraterone)These two meds are given together frequently and does not have any drug drug interaction IMO.

My initial reaction is that 10-mg prednisone with 500-mg of Zytiga is 4 times the usual dose. Are there special circumstances that require you to take that much prednisone?

Not that I know of, maybe it's because its a 6 months trial, the French system has done me proud so far so I will go with the flow for now and see how the blood tests turn out.

I was responding well with just the Enatone injection cancer was minute and still is but PSA I increased slightly over the last two blood tests so I am on 6 months closely monitored trial after that it may change again or remain depending on results.

I have been taking 10 mg of Prednisolone and 1000 mg of Zytiga since November 2019 and I was told that is a normal dosage?

They have worked well together for many patients for many years. I assume you are castration-resistant which is why you are taking 10 mg of prednisone.

Yes you are right, and I hope it works well for me too it is reassuring to read the comments

Welcome Milligan .. you’ve found the best place for pc info from those in the trenches. Stage #4 ain’t no joke.. The treatments are still archaic with first step

Chemical castration. Do some weight bearing routines and cardio and a heart healthy diet . We need to try to stave off cardio and osteo issues that arise after treatments. You will need to adjust to a new you without testosterone.. Always be your own advocate. We all need to follow professionals and use the offered poisons in order to put down APC. I’ve been undetectable 5 1/2 yrs out of six . I’m saving you a spot in the raft , up front. Take care...... Scott

Why only 6 months? If zytiga is still at the end of 6 months can you continue? I see no reason to end a treatment that works.

I'm currently on Eligard (injection every 6 mo) and Zytiga, 1000mg + 5mg Prednisone. They are both hormone blockers, but they work differently, for one thing, Zytiga can block the cancer cells from producing testosterone on their own.
