Cut in dexamethasone

Husband has been on prednisone and then dexamethasone along with Zytiga for 2 years and 8 months. My worry is his adrenal glands won’t function as we are having to wean him off the dex due to water retention. Any thoughts? Dex has been 9 months. Stopping zytiga as well for now.

He has been taking too much Dex, and has to be weaned slowly. Why would his adrenals not function?

I had read that the steroids eventually kill off the adrenal glands. They r slow to return to functional and a lot of times they don’t return. Need to stay on steroid of some type.

Just take it as it comes. Wean him off first and then see if his adrenal function returns.

What is your choice?

I have taken proscar or finasteride since 2004. It suppresses DHT and DHEA. My adrenals function ok. It could be an alternative to Zytiga

It doesnt work that way for finasteride or testosterone...so I dont believe it does that to the adrenal gland. I am not sure but I think the adrenals produce DHEA.
