Zytiga and dexamethasone

My husband has been on zytiga and dexamethasone since mid August. Lately he has become much angrier and some weight gain. Also it seems like his feet aren’t working as well. Has anyone else seen these symptoms with this drug combination? Thank you in advance.

I switched from pred to dex March 2020. None of the SE’s you mention.

I was on Zytiga plus prednisone (5mg) for just over 2 years with very little side effects. When PSA started to double in just 2 months, Onco switched me to Zytiga with Dexa (10mg) in the hope of getting an improvement.

Bad news. I felt terrible within days of starting Dexa, extreme fatigue and had the most terrible night time leg cramps. Also gained weight quickly with no change of diet - I eat pretty healthily and in very small proportions, so clearly my metabolism was affected.

PSA continued to increase even more rapidly, so switched back to prednisone and feel much better. Energy improved and no leg cramps and gradually dropping weight, though that is an effort.

PSMA scan revealed only 2 mets so about to start SBRT.

That's an enormous dose! I went from 5mg prednisone to 0.5mg dexamethasone without much of a problem. If you look at the conversion charts 10mg of dex that you were put on is dose equivalent to 62mg of prednisone!

Apologies, that should be 1mg (2x.5mg) - read the label wrong!
