I hope everyone is doing well. It’s been a long time since I posted on this forum. My husband was diagnosed back in November of 2018 with advance prostate cancer he went through 6 rounds of chemo and then 10 rounds of radiation. He was on casodex then a year ago his oncologist wanted him to try zytiga to be taken with prednisone. I want to report that my husband health has been great. He has to go get ct scans ( chest, pelivis, abdomen) and an MRI on his brain every 3 months and blood work every month. Which have been clean so far. His PSA is .001, his oncologist check his bones Mets by alkaline phosphate which she says is at its lowest it’s ever been. His doctors at the time of diagnosis gave him a 33 month life span. Come August of this year marks the 33rd month. The only thing that I worry about is his memory, nausea and fatigue. I know fatigue is a part of the side affects of zytiga. What about nausea and memory loss? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Was casodex failing? If not why would his doctor stop it.

No casodex wasn’t failing. His doctors thought zytiga would be better. Which it has been. His numbers have been the lowest it ever has.

Sounds like things are going well. 33 month life span? Wonder how they came up with that number. Dart board? Kidding - we need the doctors. They write the prescriptions. I'm prescribed Xtandi, similar to Zytiga. (Tall_Allen may step in and correct me, so let me say, they are somewhat similar.) I do have memory and cognitive issues. I probably shouldn't drink and vape marijuana. I do not have a nausea problem with Xtandi. Loss of appetite, but no problem after I start eating. I guess there is a reason for all the scans? Wishing you both the best.

John Cameron Swayze. I remember him well. I've decided you have a photographic memory or a staff of writers. I bought a fitbit type watch awhile ago. I had to quit wearing it because it was too heavy. It now hangs from the handle bars of my stationary bike.

"Xtandi, similar to Zytiga"

They are nothing alike chemically, but do have similar effects against PCa.

Amazing side effects of Xtandi and Zytiga. Xtandi controlled my psa unmeasurable for 4 months and I felt wonderful but it passed my blood brain barrier and caused a mild seizure, so immediately off. I have been on Zytiga now for 34 months and psa still 0.04. My friend had so bad side effects on Zytiga that he was taken off it after 2 months. He has been successfully on Xtandi for 33 months!

Does this apply to speeding...the expectation is that I obey the speed limit.

Great report! Good to hear from you. Cannabis may help with the nausea, but it certainly won't help with the memory.

I remember your first post . He’s done well. But we all know that It is not with out losses and suffering . Your love is the best medicine . Canabis and ginger can both help me with nausea and appetite. Fatigue has been severe for me also at times . Fatigue for me turned into depression and self loathing. Sam-e helped me break up fatigue . Once severe fatigue faded my depression lifted also. We all get memory loss and diminished in many ways . Keep him smiling . Peace .

Your husband is doing well! I too am on Zytiga. A one-hour nap after lunch each day seems to help. Having said this, physical activity is very important during treatment.
