Zytiga and prednisone holiday.

Hello fellow warriors.

My Dr has given me a break from the Zytiga and prednisone based on excellent results from earlier radiation treatment this year.

I am experiencing severe migraines the past few days since I stopped taking 5 days ago.

I’m assuming there has to be some side effects and the migraine is all I have.

You have to taper off prednisone

Stopping prednisone abruptly can cause your BP to surge causing migraines.

Could I ask a question? I just started back on dexamethasone on .5 mg, after having been given the wrong dosage of 4 mg. I have taper down over about six days now. My question is are most of you on .5 mg or are you at least on a 1 mg dosage. Right now I seem to have a lot of swelling in my stomach and a very slight headache and I’m wondering if that’s part of the Zytiga side effects. So maybe I need more steroid. I started Zytiga in August and my PSA climbed to 20, I switched over to Dexamethasone but was given way too much. Zytiga didn’t seem to bother me too much from August to December my PSA came down to 9.7 in Dec. But I am noticing something now that’s not quite right. Thank you comments. Christmas to all.

I take 10 mg each day. Sounds like the prednisone not the Zytiga. I have been on Zytiga for 3 years with no issue apart from occasional fatigue. You may want to ask your question by positing to the forum versus to my post. You may get more response. Take care and best wishes.

Thank you for your response. I'm still wondering if I am having a reaction to the Zytiga, the last 8 days I've experienced continued bloating but also diarrhea. Or maybe it is the .5mg of dexamethasone I'm using as my steroid. I've only been on this amount of steroid for 2 weeks. I've been using Zytiga since August so have my doubts there.

Could being on the wrong dosage of Dexamethasone (4 mg from 11/23-12/15) contribute to messing up my bowels? I and my Onc are both puzzled. Any suggestions?
