Hello all, my husband has just started 5 weeks of IMRT to the abdomen based on Axumin scan which revealed a 1.8 cm avid retrocaval metastatic lymph node. He has been on Zytiga since September 2019. PSA is now at 6.18, up from 3.6 two months prior. I’ve seen several posts on supplements to take while undergoing radiation treatment but don’t want to add anything that will interfere with Zytiga.
RBC, Hemoglobin and Hematocrit numbers are already low, presumably due to Zytiga, so we’d like to keep them from going even lower while undergoing radiation treatments. Any suggestions?

I love hummus I do have it once in a while. You don't have to quite the gas products all together, just cut way back on them, and know that to eat them in quantity means trouble.
There are studies on PubMed that berberine, soy derivatives, and intermittent fasting may sensitize PCa cell to radiation. During IMRT, I ate small portions of edamame beans, took a berberine powder, and fasted for one session per week.
Greetings Bacana,Please tell us his bio. Age? Location? Treatment(s)? Treatment center(s)? Scores Psa/Gleason? Medications? Doctor's name(s)? Thank You!!!

Hello John, yes I did add his profile on home page. He was diagnosed in 1998 at age 43 and has undergone external beam, brachytherapy, intermittent and now continuous ADT (Eligard), surgery in March 2019 to remove a retroperitoneal mass, started on Zytiga in September 2019, and is now undergoing 5 to 6 weeks of IMRT to abdomen area based on latest Axumin scan. So 22 years and counting! Last PSA check was 6.18 in October and 3.6 two months prior. His urologist is Dr. Ian Thompson and oncologist is Dr. Sridhar Beeram. We live in Mico, TX, on the outskirts of San Antonio.
