Are there any supplements, medications or vitamins that work against Zytiga? Or remove Zytiga from the body making it ineffective?
My dad was prescribed Zytiga and has been taking it for 2 months; however, it did nothing to bring down his psa. It saddened us that an effective medication like Zytiga didn't work on him.
Thank you. He has not taken Xtandi yet. He was prescribed with Zytiga, and it was disheartening to learn it was ineffective. Will moving to Xtandi work?
Allen, is Zytiga effective after Erleada? It has failed me & I am trying to qualify for the Eclipse trial & if I draw the "short straw", I will begin on Zytiga.
It is usually effective for a short time. The nice thing about that trial is that upon failure in the control group (with either abiraterone or enzalutamide), you would get treated with 177Lu-PSMA-i&T anyway, so there is nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Exactly, Allen! It will be great if the trial convinces the FDA to let PCa patients bypass Chemo!
This trial is being done at St. Louis University Medical School, which is a "Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Center of Excellence"! A relative new hospital, they claim to be one of the few centers, in the US, with digital scanning equipment. Thanks!
That's a good question. I think it is being done at 16 centers & is a 5 yr. commitment but I'm sure they won't wait that long for results. It started early last yr.
There is the similar trial, "Splash" which has been going on longer, I think?
Not everything will work for everyone. I understand the frustration, we had a similar experience with xtandi when my dad took it. It is very disheartening.
Apalutamide is a 2nd generation AR drug. It blocks DHT and also blocks signaling. Casodex is 1st gen and only blocks the ARs. Not nearly as strong.I like that saying. Or as I say it, apalutamide is Casodex on steroids.
I had RP & SBRT in 2017 & 2018 & went on Lupron for 2.5 yrs. Then went off Lupron & 1.5 yrs. later PSA went from <0.1 to 0.4. Found 1 met. on T-11 & had Cyberknifed. Then in 2022 PSA jumped to 7.3 & went on Apalutamide, Lupron & Xgeva. Failed this after 6 months.
