PSA rose more with T < 3

Hey y'all,

Been on Abiraterone since 01/20 and have had monthly PSAs done.

The last one jumped from 5.2 to 9.2 - almost a doubling.

Trying to navigate the Kaiser system to get another scan and proceed from there

I'm inclined to rechallenge with Taxotere to refumigate my body for pests. Did 15 in 2015, and I hope that five years later, it will still be effective.

Had to get a liver panel done at Kaiser, at least that went easily 💙

Hey Randy,

Hang in there. You have come along long way down from 840 PSA. I think another round of the Taxotere will do good for you. Second round has worked for others. Love your term "refumigate" Keep the faith brother. Love your shirt slogans etc.

If you can handle them, a few more cycles may hurt them badly. Another 5 years would be a great start.

I hope whatever you do works and the scans are clean. I would say keep up the fight but clearly your doing that already!

Randy, I’m wishing you the very best. Did I read correctly that you had 15 x taxotere treatments in one year? I kind of hope that’s some kind of record. I’m going to drive up from Newport to cheer you on in your next race. Fumigate those pests brother!

Hey Randy

Did oncologist told you why your PSA is rising? Cause from my knowledge of you, correct me brother if I am wrong, you run pretty often, had done 15 cycles of docetaxel, are in great shape, on Zytiga but without prednisone and you’re looking great. I am just 🤔 why the rise in PSA?

Take good care ❤️

Hey, yea - trying to stay as healthy with diet e.g. intermittent fasting, and fit - lot of of hiking. I am on prednisone currently and the last Axumin 11/19 showed a spot on anterior pararectal fat pad of the prostate. MO wants new scan to see what's where and make a call. She didn't speculate on the cause of the rise, I have an appt on 10/23 with and will keep y'all posted

Ye, in 2015 had a huge median lob on prostate and mets to L ureter lymph nodes. MO, at that time said horses left barn and I replied with Terrorists left the base camp

How do you manage zytiga without steroid told if you don't take steroid cortisol problems

dockam profile image
dockam in reply tojohnscats

I do take prednisone twice/day. For now, dang giant megecomplex Kaiser is really hard to get MO to act. She okayed a SWITCH, but hasn't called in Dexamethasone swap

Have you tried switching to Dexamethasone? My PSA starting going up about 7 months ago and I switched. It's been undetectable since.

dockam in reply to

Yes, MO approved a SWITCH, but she never okayed a new prescription. Will ask again at appt on 10/23

Whoohoo doc! Welcome aboard the no t train . I’ve had 3 T five years now . We should Try to watch our heart your bone health . Extended use of adt can impend osteo and cardio issues . I did Orchiectomy 2017 allowing me to drop the Lupron shots . I’m on a pill form of a defunct adt test drug that’s keeping me zero until it doesn’t . Some guys have been on adt for decades .. stay strong 💪. Welcome to the club. Great Psa ..a celebration is due .🥳

Hang in there man! You've been an incredible inspiration. I love to run, but can't continuously do it anymore. Now I run for 20 breadths, and then rest for 20. I just got back from about a 1.5 miler, and proud of doing that!

Try the switch to dexamethasone 0.5 mg and see what happens. People can continue controlling the cancer with abi when switching to dexa. If it does not work you could discuss having cabazitaxel chemo, which seems to be more effective than going to other anti androgen.

There are also the trials with modified niclosamide which could resensitize the cancer to abi or enza.

They had some success in previous small trials.

You handle life well my friend . You inspire me.. I will be the first one to squealing like a pig when my frickin Psa doubles .. after one round of treatments then sailing on the open seas four years I imagine the longer I go the closer I am to the uptick?.. Who the hell knows .? Hormonal cancers suck ass buddy .. Keep the faith .... mama Mia. 😣

Kaiser in terra Linda California fixed my shattered elbow 44years ago .I was 15 .. six months in a cast then rehab and not a problem since ...until now..adt and prolia ..it’s degenerating .. Kaiser did a good job back then..

yYu are awesome. No sense looking in the barn. Agree a switch to Dexamethazone is easiest first step. If the terrorists still roam then maybe cabazitaxel is next at bat (cleanup we hope). Suspect Kaiser will not go for any form of actual "BAT". But that may be coming before long. All we have is time, love and humor, and so we endure and persist.
